Samsung releasing Galaxy J3 and J7 in the USA on July 28

Galaxy J series smartphones are quite popular in the emerging markets and brought huge success for the company. So the think tank of Samsung decided to give the series a taste of US market in 2017. Samsung is going to release J3 and J7 smartphone in US in unlocked condition via major retailers, enterprise distributors and their own website. The Galaxy J3 is $150 while the Galaxy J7 is going to cost $220.

The Galaxy J3 has a 5-inch display with a 1.5GHz RAM and 16GB storage. There’s a quad-core CPU and 5MP rear and 2MP front shooters. It has a 2600 mAh battery. On the other side the Galaxy J7 has a larger 5.5-inch screen with 2GB of RAM, a 8MP back and 5MP front camera combo, and a larger 3300 mAh battery with octa-core CPU, the other specs remain the same. Both models come with Android 7.0 Nougat and offer expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD. Also, neither model has a fingerprint scanner.

Redmi Note 3 Pro is now available in Bangladesh for 16990 taka

Though the Xiaomi made Redmi Note 3 is available in Bangladesh for a long time but its until now the device has become officially available here with manufacturer's warranty. The Redmi Note 3 is available with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage along with the price tag of 16990 taka ($220). The company's Redmi Note series has traditionally been focused at the low end of the market – even more so than Xiaomi's other astonishingly good-value offerings, such as the flagship Mi5 series. However, it offers premium features such as metal bodywork, a fingerprint scanner, 5.5-inch IPS screen and a surprisingly fast processor.

It runs MIUI 7 based on Android Lollipop and supports dual 4G SIM cards (Micro + Nano). The handset packs a 4050mAh battery with fast charging support that can charge up to 50 percent in 1 hour. On the camera front, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and two-tone flash. The camera performs just about adequately in bright sunlit conditions but isn’t very good at handling bright skies. The dynamic range is unimpressive and the HDR mode doesn’t do much to solve this issue. It also houses a 5-megapixel front camera. It measures 150x76x8.65mm and weighs 164 grams.

Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition goes on sale for ¥1,799

For all of last year, those running the AnTuTu benchmark test on their Android handset had to see the Meizu MX4 teasing them with the top listing. Now, a version of the flagship handset with the Ubuntu Touch OS is available. Meizu began offering the MX4 Ubuntu Edition in China. The Linux-powered high-end smartphone is available in white or gold color scheme for ¥1,799 (about $290). Meizu is one of the most popular high-end smartphone brands in China, recognized for its innovative and elegant product design and for pioneering the user centric distribution model that has become the standard for several Chinese manufacturers.



The specs include a 5.36-inch screen with a resolution of 1152 x 1920. That works out to a 418ppi pixel density. The MediaTek MT6595 chipset is under the hood featuring an octa-core 2.2GHz CPU and the PowerVR G6200MP4 GPU. 2GB of RAM is onboard along with 16GB of non-expandable memory. A 20.7MP rear camera is included along with a 2MP snapper for selfies. A 3100mAh battery keeps the fan blades turning.

For now it's available only in China, but there is a solid promise that it will be also available in Europe as well. There is no indication that US will get this device, but nothing is really set in stone.

HTC Desire 626 is now available in Bangladesh for 19,000 taka

HTC has launched its latest offering aimed at budget buyers, the Desire 626. Now available for purchase in Bangladesh for 19,000 taka ($245). The HTC Desire 626 sports a 5" 720p display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU and 1GB of RAM. Internal storage is 16GB and is expandable through the microSD card slot. At the back, there's a 13MP camera with a BSI sensor and f/2.2 aperture that records 1080p video. A 5MP selfie camera is at the front and it also records 1080p.



The 2,000mAh battery is non-removable and can handle up to 30 hours of 3G talk time and 760 hours of stand-by. Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 4.0 and single-band Wi-Fi 802.11n with DLNA.

Samsung lowers Galaxy E5 & E7 price in India

The Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 were made official in India last month, and Samsung has now dropped the price of both handsets in the country, only a month after they went up for sale. The Galaxy E5 was launched at Rs. 19,300 ($310) but now costs Rs. 17,900 ($288). Meanwhile, the Galaxy E7 price has gone from Rs. 23,000 ($370) to Rs. 20,900 ($336).

The Galaxy E5 and E7 are Samsung's new mid-range dual SIM devices. Although reasonably priced compared to Samsung's older phones, the pricing was still on the higher side compared to the stiff competition from the Chinese vendors in an increasingly competitive market.



The Galaxy E5 comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, an 8 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera, and a 2,400 mAh battery. The Galaxy E7 has a larger display (5.5-inch), 2GB of RAM, a 13 MP rear camera, and a 2,950 mAh battery. Both devices run Android 4.4 KitKat and come with dual SIM slots, though using two SIM cards means foregoing expandable storage as one slot also doubles up as a microSD slot.

Earlier the Galaxy S4 also saw its price drop heavily in India, though that seems more like a move made in order to clear stocks of the device before the Galaxy S6 arrives in the market.

Kodak announces its first smartphone, Android running the IM5

The latest entrant into the smartphone realm is none other than Kodak, though what it has unveiled today is less of a camera running Android, and more of an actual smartphone. The Kodak IM5 comes with midrange innards mostly, except for the camera which features "unique image management software". More on that in a bit. The IM5,the 5-inch phone was built by Bullitt, the company behind the rugged Caterpillar line. It runs Android KitKat, though Lollipop is on the way, and its other specs are pretty run of the mill. There's an octa-core 1.7 processor and so-so storage, though it is expandable up to 32GB thanks to microSD.

The Kodak IM5 runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and it will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, even if a clear timeline for that hasn't been given. The handset has a 13 MP rear snapper with LED flash, a 5 MP front camera and 1GB of RAM. Camera-wise, you'll get an app that will let you quickly edit photos, share them on social media, or directly print them, since it's apparently going to be "compatible with home printers".



Expect the IM5 to become available in Europe towards the end of March, followed by a global rollout later on. It will cost €229, and when it eventually lands in the US you'll be able to pick one up for $249.

This is clearly just an attempt to capitalize on a very well known brand, since the hardware is nothing spectacular. Whether enough people will fall for that remains to be seen.

The phone has 33 days of standby time: Its 5-inch Gionee Marathon M3

Yes, you read it right. At the back, there's an 8MP snapper, which offers 720p video recording, while a 2MP camera takes care of selfies at the front.



In terms of connectivity, the Gionee Marathon M3 accepts two SIM cards and features FM Radio, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11n. The device is now available in India for Rs. 12,999, which comes out to around $210. It comes in black and white versions.

Entry level Samsung Galaxy Ace Style is announced

After the announcement of new Galaxy Ace device in Germany last week Samsung won’t hesitate to announce the device globally a few hours go. The Galaxy Ace Style is an entry level Android device aimed at the younger audience. The phone is said to have a "a fun, unique design with an enhanced camera and advanced features for superior performance", I don’t have any idea what is the meaning of that.

The dual core 1.2GHz device has a 4-inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal memory, 5 MP camera at the back, VGA shooter at the front, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and a 1500 mAh battery.



While the hardware of the device isn't fantastic, Samsung states that the Ace Style is “designed to support and power young social consumers.” The device will likely be available in both single- and dual-SIM configurations and will come with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

The Samsung Galaxy ACE Style will be available globally in April in Cream White and Dark Gray colors. The price hasn't been officially announced yet, but it’s safe to guess it will cost around $250.

Qualcomm Toq SmartWatch is now $250 only

Qualcomm Toq has been surely one of the sweetest SmartWatch of 2013 with its all rounder features except the price tag of $350. So just before MWC 2014 Qualcomm decided to cut its price by $100. The device will now be available at $249.99 for both the black and the white versions. The Toq is Qualcomm’s first attempt at the nascent smartwatch category. The unique feature about this watch that set it apart from the Pebble was the presence of a color Mirasol display, also developed by Qualcomm.



The revised pricing brings it on par with the new Pebble Steel but while the Toq may have a color display and a few other things up its sleeve, it can’t compete with Pebble’s growing app catalog nor its stylish and elegant design. If Qualcomm wants it to succeed it would need to consider more severe price cuts.

Motorola launches dual-SIM Moto G in Malaysia for $210

It looks like Australians won't be the only Android fans able to grab the dual-SIM version of Moto G from January 21, as Motorola has just announced the smartphone will be available in Malaysia as well. Just like the Australian launch, the dual-SIM Moto G will go on sale in Malaysia beginning on January 21. Moto G will be available for purchase via major carrier, retailers and authorized resellers across the country.

The mid-range smartphone packs some pretty awesome hardware for its price. For example, there’s a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, a 4.5-inch 720p display, 5MP camera, a 2070mAh battery and an almost vanilla Android 4.3.



The 8GB model will be available for 698 RM off contract, which is about $210 or €155. On the other hand, the 16GB Moto G will be up for grabs for 798 RM ($240 / €180) outright. There are no differences between the single-SIM and dual-SIM versions of Moto G, except for the number of SIM slots included with each.

Malaysian online retailer Lazada Malaysia is already taking pre-orders and promises to fulfill them on January 21. Early adopters will be treated to a screen protected and a Motorola Flip Shell free of charge.

Micromax launches Canvas XL phablet in India for Rs 13,990

Micromax launches two new Android phones in Indian market - the 6" phablet A119 Canvas XL and the peculiar 4.5" A94 Canvas MAd, which lets you earn money by watching ads. Priced at Rs 13,990 ($230), Canvas XL will be exclusively available on Homeshop18 website and TV channel starting today. The device will be delivered without any shipping charges.



Micromax A119 Canvas XL features a 6.0-inch qHD 960×540 TFT display and runs on a quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 processor. The rest of the specs include an 8MP rear and a 5MP front cameras, dual-SIM support with 3G, Wi-Fi, FM radio with recording, and a 2,450 mAh battery. The Canvas XL runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which will get some Micromax-specific apps. The device gets its juice from a 2,450 mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver 9.5 hours of talktime.

These days’ manufacturers seem to be breaking the 5-inch display barrier with great regularity. The phablet seems to be Micromax’s answer to upcoming Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and HP Slate 6 VoiceTab devices. But it remains to be seen how this phablet fares in the market already flooded with so many options.

Google’s Moto G is now available in Bangladesh for 19,900 taka

Google’s smart and affordable smartphone, the Moto G, is finally available in Bangladesh. Several importers are already started selling the handset without any warranty. Moto G, which was launched in the last months of 2013 in several markets, is a phone aimed at price-conscious buyers. The device follows up on the philosophy of Google, which acquired Motorola Mobility in 2012. After its acquisition by Google, Motorola is focusing on creating lower-priced handsets. Moto G 8GB version is now priced 19,900 taka ($255) and 16GB version is priced 21,900 taka ($280) in Bangladesh. a dual-SIM version of 16GB Moto G is also available in Bangladesh for 22,900 taka ($295). This is quite a lot regarding Moto G US price but still Moto G is a great performer even in this price range.



Moto G is a phone with 4.5-inch screen that has a 720P resolution. It is powered by a middle-of-line quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz. The device comes with 8GB and 16GB storage and has 1GB RAM. The primary camera can shoot images in 5MP while the secondary camera is good for 1.3MP images. The phone is one of the few available Android devices that run KitKat 4.2.2, the latest version of the mobile OS.

Google has already announced that the Moto G will start selling in India and other markets from January. Google launched the Moto G on the Google Play in the US market on last Wednesday. In the US the phone is officially priced at $179 and $199 for the unlocked versions.

Apple relaunching 8GB iPhone 4 in India to boost sales

The news and the title say everything for Apple. Things are not going too well in India for Apple. So they decide to take a not so Apple like decision to re-release the three and half year old iPhone 4 in India, specifically the 8GB model, according to The Economic Times. According to the source, the iPhone 4 8GB will be priced in India at around INR 15,000 ($244) through buy back schemes and EMI options. The model launched three years ago has been succeeded by the 4S, 5, 5c and 5s, the last of which starts at Rs 53,500.

The move comes as a result to boost sales in the Indian market, which Apple has been losing to cheaper rivals running Android and Windows Phone 8. India is the world’s second largest mobile market where Android is the number one smartphone OS for quite a long time for time. What is alarming now for Apple is they are losing ground to Windows powered Nokia Lumia too quickly. Earlier Microsoft report said that WP OS is now number 2 OS in India if we take Q4 sales only in our calculation.



The iPhone 4 was a popular model for Apple because of its relatively lower price compared to the newer iPhones in India. Apple and the iPhone in particular are aspirational brands in India and as such are on everyone's wish list but the high price of the unlocked models means most people either go for the older cheaper models or some rival brand, of which there is no shortage. Samsung and Sony have a strong market in India along with China made local brand like Micromax and Sony.

Apple's market share in the Indian smartphone market peaked to more than 4% in October-December 2012 and January-March 2013 before dwindling to 1.4% in October 2013, according to CMR data. Samsung's share, in contrast, rose to 42% from 33% in the same period.

With the iPhone 4 being discontinued last year after the launch of the iPhone 5c and the 5s, Apple lost one of its key sellers in the Indian market, along with its customers as well. With the re-launch of the iPhone 4, Apple is trying to gain back some of these customers. The phone is expected to go on sale as early as next week. But I wonder how Apple manages to stock iPhone 4 for India as it is almost out of market for over one year! Is it means Apple has too many iPhone 4 unsold models at their warehouse to dump?

HP Slate8 Pro is an all-rounder tab that you might consider

All the connectivity features are included in HP Slate8 Pro. But voice communication is no go for the tablet. It’s HDMI out can handle up to Ultra HD 4K display if you need which is great. Beats audio and integrated stereo speaker fulfills all your multimedia need. It weighs exactly 1 pound.

If you've been waiting on the HP Slate8 Pro then you can pick it up for $329.99 in HP official store. Amazon is also offering this tablet for $15 less. They also have 1 or 2 year drop and spill protection warranty costing $42 and $50 respectively. Snow white is only available color option for HP Slate8 Pro.

Nokia launches new Lumia 525 and Lumia 1320 in India

Nokia has launched two new Lumia phones in India. The first one is the Lumia 525 which has a budget friendly price tag with it. It has a 4.0-inch, 800x480 resolution IPS LCD, 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording, dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal and memory with microSD card slot. A 1430 mAh battery powers this 3G enable lumia phone. It is priced at INR 10,399 ($167). The Lumia 525 also comes with free Gameloft games worth ₹2,025 ($33).



Second one is the member of Nokia phablet family member, Lumia 1320, which shortly follows the flagship Lumia 1520 launched last month. Google Nexus 7 Tablet is now in Bangladesh for 25,000 taka

After a long delay Google Nexus 7 tablet is now available in Bangladesh through many importers. Least they are asking around 25,000 taka ($305) for the 8GB tab. Price of 16GB version is around 30,000 taka ($370). Like other Nexus-branded devices, the Nexus 7 tablet isn't actually hardware manufactured by Google, it’s made by Asus.

The hottest selling point of Nexus tab is its price. It’s the cheapest tab in quad-core category with the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. Powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor with 1GB RAM and either 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage, you have all the power needed inside to do anything. The 7-inch 1200 x 800 HD backlit IPS display packs a respectable 216 pixels per inch onto the screen. There is no hard button in Google Nexus 7. A 1.2MP front-facing camera rests at the top of the tablet, which is covered entirely by Corning glass. At the bottom of the unit is a micro-USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack and a thin speaker port.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus prices down to $350

At last Google own tablet is real now. And Google Phone is now 3 years old with one new model each year. Along with the announcement of tablet, Google phone also receives a very good wave.
