Samsung Galaxy S II I9100G gets ICS update at last

I know that some of you will be very surprised to see the title. Because Samsung Galaxy S II received Android ICS update back in March 2012. So why am I writing this? Because Samsung Galaxy S II has a TI OMAP 4430 chipset based version which is I9100G. It only receives the firmware upgrade just now in several countries around the world. It seems the rollout has now reached almost all the I9100G Galaxy S II units worldwide.

It's good to know that Samsung hasn't forgotten all about the less popular versions of the extremely popular Galaxy S II and is deliver their due ICS servings.

Sony Ericsson announces XPERIA lineup for Ice Cream Sandwich

Ice Cream and Sandwich will taste even better if you are sure that your Android running smartphone will rung Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich one day. Now Sony Ericsson XPERIA users are one of those.

Sony Ericsson has stepped up to bring some further details about the update on their official blog. Sony Ericsson confirmed that the following 11 Android phones will be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich update:

2. XPERIA Arc S
3. XPERIA PLAY
4. XPERIA Neo
5. XPERIA Neo V
6. XPERIA Mini
7. XPERIA Mini pro

Sony Ericsson also mentioned that its developers are working on merging our current XPERIA experience with the new features in Android 4.0, which suggests that they will be bringing their launcher customization to ICS, as well. Ice Cream Sandwich source code is now available

We have been for this for a long time. Mobile phone manufacturers and app developers are waiting for the source code of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich after the announcement of ICS on October. Now the waiting is over. Google has finally released the source code for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This means developers will soon be able to get the latest update running on their Android devices. If you don’t know the how to do it then you could just wait for your favorite custom ROM to be made available in Ice Cream Sandwich flavor.

The code is actually the 4.0.1 update, the exact same one that the Galaxy Nexus will be running on. This code will have to be modified in order to run on other devices. It also comes with a full history of the Android source code tree. Keep in mind that Honeycomb source code is not released so far. So it’s clear that Google wants developers to concentrate on Ice Cream Sandwich.

So it is expected that we will hear a lot about devices running Ice Cream Sandwich in the next few weeks. But before we get all excited, there are a few things to note. Google is saying that the code is still being pushed due to its large size and if synced at the moment it will end up being useless. Their advice is to wait for them to tell you when it's ready to sync.

HTC officially announces Ice Cream Sandwich compatible phone list, more on the way

After 18 days of Ice Cream Sandwich announcement, HTC is the 1st one who just announced a list of compatible Ice Cream Sandwich devices list for everyone. The phones that will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich will mostly be high-end devices released after the Sensation. This includes phones like the HTC Vivid, Sensation, Sensation XL, Sensation XE, Rezound, EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G and Amaze 4G. No information on the not-so-latest but not-quite-old phones such as the Incredible S, Desire S and Rhyme getting the ICS update. No problem, we are waiting HTC!

LG Optimus 2X will receive Ice Cream Sandwich update on time- LG officially confirms

If you've been wondering about the fate of Ice Cream Sandwich on the LG Optimus 2X, then I have a big smile for you. LG has just confirmed via Facebook that it the latest Android OS is indeed coming to the 2X and other "high-end smartphones," effectively debunking rumors to the contrary. Unfortunately LG isn't quite ready to tell a release date, but promises that "detailed information" is on the way.

HTC will move on to Ice Cream Sandwich too

While Sony Ericsson clearly said that they will move on latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS sooner or later. But HTC is very quiet until now. Now they give us a quick update via their Facebook page in regards to Ice Cream Sandwich coming to their devices. Essentially, the update provided no update at all as the statement repeats sentiments often put forth by PR folks when questioned on whether or not certain devices will see certain software.

“Since Google unveiled Ice Cream Sandwich earlier this week, HTC has been looking closely at the new OS’s features and functionality to determine our upgrade plans. I am eagerly waiting to see Desire or Sensation handsets running latest Android OS with their own Sense UI.

You can play games via console and see it on the HDTV on your Galaxy Nexus

With Android Honeycomb we saw the introduction of USB hosting, allowing for connectivity with device like a USB hard drive or USB gamepad (like the Xbox 360 controller) on a tablet for use with games or emulators. In case there was any doubt that this would also be a feature in Ice Cream Sandwich. Google framework engineer Romain Guy confirms everyone about this exciting feature via his Twitter account.

It means USB gamepads will be fully functional in ICS as well. The cool part, though, is that HDMI's playing nice as well. In short, you could hook up an external gamepad to a USB-to-microUSB adapter on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, connect it to your TV and transform your handset into a fancy portable gaming console.

Ice Cream Sandwich is sure for Motorola Xoom, don’t know when

Motorola Xoom is the first tablet that runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb earlier this now. But by the passing of time new Android king is arrived. As you all know it is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first device to taste new Android OS. So what’s about old king? As rumors were flying around regarding whether or not the Motorola XOOM would be the first Android tablet to receive Android 4.0, there is no certain news yet from anyone.

But Motorola forum manager Matt has confirmed that the XOOM would indeed be getting Ice Cream Sandwich. But it is impossible to tell him about the timing or line in queue.

Ice Cream Sandwich Running Samsung Nexus Prime coming on 11th October

Samsung has already sent-out the invitations for the Unpacked event on October 11th, which will be held at the CTIA expo and will be co-hosted by Google. Now we have confirmation that Google's next flagship, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be announced there with the Samsung-made Nexus Prime.

And it's not just the new reincarnation of the world's best-selling popular OS that deserves attention. The Samsung Nexus Prime should be a pretty hot piece of technology itself with its rumored 4.65" HD Super AMOLED screen and powerful Exynos chipset with a couple of 1.5 GHz CPU cores.

Samsung somehow confirms they are making next Google Phone, Nexus Prime

Only a few days ago we heard the rumor that Samsung made prime will be the third Google phone and it will run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. But there is no official sign till today. Samsung legal department has sent a Cease and Desist letter to a person claiming it is in possession of leaked Nexus Prime firmware. The Korean manufacturer wants it back, because it's obviously an exclusive Samsung property and not to be released to the public. By doing this Samsung confirms everyone that the third Google phone, Nexus Prime - will be made by Samsung, not Motorola.

We expect a October release for Nexus Prime. According to the rumors, it will sport 4.5" new generation Super AMOLED screen and might be based on Samsung's Exynos SoC with a powerful 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Ice Cream Sandwich is the first Android OS supported both mobile phone and tablet platform.

Next Google Phone coming in October with Ice Cream Sandwich?

After acquiring Motorola it is expected that Motorola will produce the next Google Phone. But a Korean Electronic Times reports that Samsung will make the device known as ‘Google Nexus Prime’. It will be first to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. And it is coming in October. This new report mentions several specs of Nexus Price handset. The device will have a 720p Super AMOLED HD display with a 1.5GHz processor. The site also notes that the Prime’s display will include a 4.5-inch panel with a PenTile layout.

9 New Samsung Android on the Pipeline, HD screen in Mobile sooner with Ice Cream Sandwich OS

11 leaked Samsung products just made the mobile rumor juice tastier. We just found specs sheets of 9 upcoming Samsung smartphones and two tablets. The list includes the 7 new Android devices, two 7" Honeycomb tablets and two new Bada smartphones. Lithuanian site Mobilli.it is the website first released the list.

We must say that Samsung is preparing new member of 7’’ Android tablet family with Honeycomb OS. Model numbers are P6200 and P6210.

Among the 7 leaked phone specs GT-I9250 is the most interesting one. Sitting on the fence between smartphones and tablets, it features a 4.65" SuperAMOLED of HD resolution 1280x720, a 5 MP camera and runs on Android Ice Cream. This will probably be Samsung's first droid featuring the yet unreleased version of the Google OS.

Samsung I9220 also has a 4.3" SuperAMOLED with the rumored 1280x720 that's HD again resolution. Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread is inside I9220. A 1.4 Ghz dual-core processor and an 8 MP camera completes the phone main sheet.
Update: Reports from OLED-info states that I9220 will have a 5.3'' Super AMOLED HD display and will be the first to have such a advanced display. It will be released by 2011 fall.

Samsung I9210 comes next with Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread OS, a 4.5" WVGA SuperAMOLED and 4G support. The Samsung I9210 has 16 GB of internal storage, 8 MP snapper with a LED flash on the back and a 2 MP front-facing camera on the front. GPS and Wi-Fi are covered as well as Bluetooth 3.0. It has a huge 1750 mAh battery.

The Samsung I8150 is looking quite uninspiring with its 3.7" WVGA (480x800) TFT display, HSDPA support, 4 gigs worth of internal storage and a 1.4 Ghz single-core processor. With its Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread OS, microSD card slot and a 5 MP snapper with 720p video recording it makes up for one decently looking mid-range device.

Then there are three low-end Androids. Samsung B5510 will reportedly come with a 2.8" display, and will run Android 2.2.2 Froyo. Its CPU will be clocked to 800 MHz processor. Important thing is that it has a QWERTY keyboard. The rest of the Samsung B5510 specs that have been unveiled including a 3 MP snapper, FM-radio, Wi-Fi and GPS.

We are back on the Gingerbread train with the Samsung S5360 and Samsung S5610. The decidedly entry-level duo comes with QVGA (240x320 pixels) displays - the unit on the S5360 measures 3" in diagonal, while the S5610 only has a 2.4" screen.

However the S5610 leads in the camera department, where it offers 5 megapixel stills to the S5360's 2 megapixel shots. Connectivity-wise, though, both should be doing well with GPS, Wi-Fi and HSDPA on board.

Next Android OS is Ice Cream Sandwich, Coming in Q4 2011 for Mobiles & Tablets

Many people don’t like the idea of separate Android OS version for their mobile phone (Android 2.3 Gingerbread) and tablets (Android 3.0 Honeycomb). That’s why Google termed the next Android OS as ‘ Ice Cream Sandwich’. Doesn’t it mean for both mobiles and tablets? Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be installed on your mobiles phones and tablets from Q4 of this year. Google made the announcement in Google I/O with the release of Android 3.1 for tablets (Xoom only).

Surely Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming with many new features. We don’t have the complete list now. But some of it’s features are face-tracking and camera focus shifting based on voice recognition.
