Nokia unveiled 3 good for nothing Android device at MWC

Well i have to say am rather dissappointed like all the other guys after seeing the Android made by Nokia with Windows phone flavour. After so many months of rumor and speculation Nokia finally unveils it’s first Android device at MWC few days ago. In number they announced three Android running devices at the same time – Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL. And surprisingly all the phones sucks successfully!

Nokia X and Nokia X+ have 4 inch display on their front where Nokia XL has a 5 inch display. All the devices IPS displays have same resolution – 480 X 800, which is not much for everyone. Each devices run by dual core Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 1GHz Cortex A5 CPU with 4GB internal memory and microSD card slot. Except Nokia X, other two phone RAM are 768MB where Nokia X gets only 512MB of RAM.

Android

At the back of the Nokia X and X+, there's a 3MP fixed focus camera with both phones weighing 129 grams and pack 1500mAh battery. It's good for 10.5 hours of 3G talk time and has a maximum standby time of 17 days. Both phones are also capable of maximum music playback of up to 26 hours, while video playback is rated at 8.4 hours before the battery needs a recharge. Nokia XL has a 5MP camera with LED flash on the back with 2MP snapper at front for Skype video calling.

Now time to mention Nokia stupidity. None of the phone have Google Play store access. You have to use Nokia Store to download apps. App developer needed to submit their Android apps to that stores. Though many of the apps need to be changed slightly in order to remove all the Google goodies. There is no GMail, no Chrome, no Maps inside! You have to use Nokia HERE maps in order to get direction. Nokia HERE maps are great but its coverage is still in primitive state.

Now some good news time. Nokia gives 1-month free of Skype premium for every Nokia X-family customer. Users will also get 10GB of free storage to the OneDrive (previously known as SkyDrive) cloud service for storing their files online.

Android

All the Nokia X Android phone will be available from Q2. The price range will be $100-$150. But US customers will not get any of the devices in their territory.

Nokia X might have a 3MP camera, running Android 4.1.2

Another day and another Nokia Android rumor. This time we have update from CamSpeed camera benchmark. They spotted Nokia RM-980 in their database, which is so called Nokia X (Normandy). The Nokia X that did the benchmark was the dual-SIM version and the detected camera was a 3MP fixed-focus shooter. Rumors until now claimed a 5MP camera, meaning they could be wrong or the single and dual-SIM versions have different cameras. A different prototype module can also create some confusion here too.

Android running Nokia phone specifications

The Nokia X ran Android 4.1.2, which will be heavily customized by Nokia surely. Earlier we also saw an Android 4.4 KikKat running Nokia X too! Other specs for the phone include a 4" WVGA screen, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 4GB storage and a microSD card slot. Unfortunately, there's no info on what kind of video the camera will record. The phone is supposed to launch as an Asha device in March. And we are also sure that the phone will look like an Asha phone.

Nokia Normandy (Nokia X) hits Browsermark database

Another day, another Nokia Android rumor. This times its just more than a rumor, we can easily mark this as a confirmation. Today Nokia X (also known as Nokia Normandy) has entered benchmark database - the one of Browsermark 2. According to the submitted info, Nokia X's model number is RM-980 and its Chrome browser scores 1885.88 on the test.

According to the rumors, Nokia X won't be a Google certified phone, which means no Google Services including the Play Store. Nokia will reportedly provide its own application store, but the users will be able to side load apps, too. This information contradicts the previous leaks by an online retailer where they said that Nokia Android will support all Google services.

As of now we know some of Nokia X specs too - a 4" WVGA display, dual-core Snapdragon 200 chipset, a 5MP cam, 4GB storage, dual-SIM, six different colors, stripped down Android 4.4 KitKat. It is expected to go official at the Nokia's pre-MWC event in Barcelona next month.
