Samsung unveils beautiful selfie focused Galaxy E5 & E7 in Bangladesh

Samsung has unveiled two mid-tier smartphones in its brand new Galaxy E-series - the Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7 in Bangladesh. The Samsung Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 are mostly mid-range devices, though the E7 is somewhat gravitating toward the upper mid-range one segment. The series, said to be targeted at the youth segment, is described as made up of 'powerful and compact' smartphones with a good viewing and selfie experience. Both smartphones feature what Samsung is calling 'Hybrid Dual-SIM', allowing the second SIM slot to be used as a microSD card slot. Both employ 7.3mm-thin aluminum unibodies, which bring them closer to the A5 and A7. The design language is Samsung's typical one, once again reminding us of their Alpha cousins. Both the Galaxy E5 and E7 are running Samsung's own TouchWiz UI atop Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but Samsung teased that they'll be receiving Lollipop in the foreseeable future.



Hardware-wise, the Samsung Galaxy E7 comes with a 5.5-inch, 720p Super AMOLED display, a quad-core SoC humming at 1.2GHz, 2GB RAM, 16GB on-board storage (a microSD card also made the cut), and a 13MP rear snapper/5MP front-facing selfie one. A hefty 2,950mAh juicer and two SIM card slots can be found aboard as well.

The Samsung Galaxy E5, on the other hand, is a bit more modest - we are dealing with a 5", 720p Super AMOLED display, quad-core chipset running at 1.2GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, 16 gigs of available storage, and an 8MP rear shooter/5MP front-facing one. A 2,400mAh battery, a microSD slot, and two SIM slots also can be found in the bag of features of this new Galaxy.

The smartphones have been priced at 24,900 taka ($320) and 29,900 taka ($385) respectively. Both smartphones comes with standard one year complete warranty.

Samsung lowers Galaxy E5 & E7 price in India

The Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 were made official in India last month, and Samsung has now dropped the price of both handsets in the country, only a month after they went up for sale. The Galaxy E5 was launched at Rs. 19,300 ($310) but now costs Rs. 17,900 ($288). Meanwhile, the Galaxy E7 price has gone from Rs. 23,000 ($370) to Rs. 20,900 ($336).

The Galaxy E5 and E7 are Samsung's new mid-range dual SIM devices. Although reasonably priced compared to Samsung's older phones, the pricing was still on the higher side compared to the stiff competition from the Chinese vendors in an increasingly competitive market.



The Galaxy E5 comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, an 8 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera, and a 2,400 mAh battery. The Galaxy E7 has a larger display (5.5-inch), 2GB of RAM, a 13 MP rear camera, and a 2,950 mAh battery. Both devices run Android 4.4 KitKat and come with dual SIM slots, though using two SIM cards means foregoing expandable storage as one slot also doubles up as a microSD slot.

Earlier the Galaxy S4 also saw its price drop heavily in India, though that seems more like a move made in order to clear stocks of the device before the Galaxy S6 arrives in the market.

Samsung launches Galaxy A3 & A5 in India along with E5 & E7

At a media event in Mumbai, Samsung announced a total of four new devices for Indian customers: The Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7. The metallic chassis Galaxy A3 and A5 are already available in a few countries, but this is the first time Samsung introduces the Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7.

All four phones have unibody design, with the A-series having aluminum unibody and the E-series having polycarbonate unibody. All phones also have dual SIM support and run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC. All four run on Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top. None of them have replaceable batteries and only the A5 supports LTE.



The Galaxy A3 has a 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with microSD card slot, 8 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera, dual SIM support, and 1,900mAh battery. The A5 has a bigger 5.0-inch HD display, 2GB RAM, 4G LTE, and 2,300mAh battery, with other specs being similar.

The Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 are priced at Rs. 20,500 ($324/€271) and Rs. 25,500 ($401/€338), respectively for Indian market.

The Galaxy E5 is similar to the Galaxy A3 in terms of hardware specs. There are a few differences, however. With a 5-inch 720p display, the device is noticeably larger, and there's dual-SIM connectivity on offer as well. To account for the larger display, the battery is a 2,400 mAh variant. The pricing is slightly lesser at Rs. 19,300 ($304), which may be due to the fact that the device isn't a metallic affair like the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5.

Like the Galaxy E5, the Galaxy E7 is similar in hardware to the Galaxy A5, and boasts a 5.5-inch 720p display along with a 2,950 mAh battery. In terms of software, all four devices come with Android 4.4 KitKat with a side serving of TouchWiz. One area of differentiation (other than the design) between the Galaxy A series and Galaxy E series is in terms of connectivity: the Galaxy A3 and A5 offer LTE connectivity, while the E5 and E7 only feature 3G connectivity.

The Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 are priced at Rs. 19,300 ($304/€255) and Rs. 23,000 ($362/€304), respectively.
