Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy S5 in OTA in India

Samsung had began rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its Galaxy smartphone lineup. Now the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 owners in India are getting the Lollipop OTA update. The 874MB heavy update brings along a fresher TouchWiz UI, and of course, performance and stability improvements besides better battery life. The version number of Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S5 was reported to be G900FXXU1BNL2 with an Android LRX21P build.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Reportedly Receiving Android 5.0 Update in India

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 (G900H) is being pushed out over-the-air (OTA) and a notification should pop up when the update becomes available. Users can also manually check for the update by going to Settings > About phone > Software update on the Galaxy S5.

Samsung has been seeding the Lollipop update for Snapdragon based S5 and later for Exynos based model since last December, starting with South Korea, then continued to offer it in Poland, Spain, UK, US, and other regions.

T-Mobile rolls out Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 in US

Following Verizon Wireless and Sprint, another USA carrier is reportedly rolling out the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update. As of the moment, T-Mobile is delivering the customized version of the update to Samsung Galaxy S5 handsets. The update is available over-the-air, and as the download necessary to perform it is over 939MB, so it might take a while to finish. As always in these cases, your phone will notify you once the new software is ready to be downloaded and installed. After applying the update, you should be on Android 5.0, build number G900TUVU1DOB1.

After you get the update installed you'll notice some small visual changes, including a new look for notifications and shortcuts on the lockscreen, a fresh multitasking menu, as well as a redesigned notification shade with some brighter colors. The settings menu has switched from dark blue to white — in line with the Note 4's KitKat build, actually — and there are some subtle stylistic changes around the entire phone. As soon as you're booted up you'll want to head into the Play Store as well, as you'll likely have a couple dozen app updates waiting to bring you to the latest version compatible with Lollipop.

If that hasn't happened yet, you can always force it to manually check using the Settings menu, though whether this will actually successfully bring you the update isn't clear. Alternatively, you can use Samsung's Kies desktop software to get your Galaxy S5 its first taste of Lollipop.

Samsung launches extended warranty program in the US covers drops, spills and much more

If you are interested in any of Samsung’s Galaxy S & Note series smart devices in US then I have one very good news for you. Samsung has your back should your device run into any issues. Thanks to Samsung’s new Protection Plus Mobile Elite program that the company has announced. Under this program, the warranty of the phone will be extended to two years, and Samsung will offer fixes/replacements for damage from accidental drops, electrical and mechanical failures, and replace a device within two business days. Samsung is limiting the number of times a user can claim these benefits to three, which shouldn’t be a problem considering you will probably switch to a new phone if you’ve dropped it or damaged it so many times.

Extra Protection for Samsung Galaxy Note Devices

With Protection Plus Mobile Elite, you will be eligible for the following:
  1. Covers accidental damage from handling – drops, spills and cracked screens
  2. Covers electrical and mechanical failures
  3. Advanced exchange – replacement within 2 business days or less
  4. 24/7/364 customer support (Closed Christmas Day)
  5. Up to three (3) claims allowed during coverage period
At the moment, the Protection Plus Mobile Elite warranty is available only for the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, and the Galaxy Note 4. Extended warranty isn't free, however, as Galaxy S series owners need to shell out $99, while customers with a Galaxy Note device have to pay $129 for the service. If you need a file a claim to get the device fixed, Samsung mentions that you'll have to shell out an additional service fee, which is $75 for Galaxy S devices and $95 for a Galaxy Note handset.

No matter you are interested or not I think it’s worth you time to visit Samsung’s Protection Plus page for at least once.

Samsung releases Galaxy S5 in Bangladesh with complete Gear family

For a mobile enthusiastic 11 April is the day to remember for me. Because this is the day of Samsung Galaxy S5 release all over the world. And my home country Bangladesh is no different. Actually Samsung unveiled the phone yesterday with a grand launching ceremony. The device is price 60,000 taka ($770) only! Yes I said only, because the previous 2 flagships were both launched with 69,900 taka ($900) price tag. So it’s wonderful news if you want to buy this premium 2014 device by Samsung. The device with a 2.1 GHz Octa core processor will also be available at 12 equal monthly installments. Samsung is also offering free S View cover with every S5 purchase. The device boasts a finger scanner for security and long term evolution access, which is a far faster wireless technology compared to 3G.

Price in Taka Samsung Galaxy phone

The handset was officially launched at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in Dhaka yesterday in exclusive association with mobile operator Robi, the third largest operator with 25.7 million subscriptions. Robi customers will get some special benefits for six months, such as 500 megabytes of free internet surfing, missed call alert, breaking news, and sports news.

Don’t assume that Robi is the only operator to offer Galaxy S5. All other mobile phone operators like Grameenphone, Airtel and Banglalink also has Galaxy S5 on their bag too. The device comes in four colors -- charcoal black, shimmery white, electric blue and copper gold.

Along with Galaxy S5 release, Samsung also release all three Gear smartwatches in the market. But the pricing seems way too far of the international market. Samsung priced The Gear 2 at 32,500 taka ($420), Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit at 21,500 taka ($275). The price was excellent at the pre-order period. Samsung has offered Gear Fit at the rate of only 10,000 taka ($130), when it was ordered along with Galaxy S5. But we hope Samsung will surely lower the prices very soon.

Rumor of cheaper Samsung Galaxy S5 might be true

One of the very few rumors regarding Samsung Galaxy S5 is it will be a cheaper device from Galaxy S4 considering the opening price. And the good news is that might be true. According to a South Korean source the official launch price of Galaxy S5 will be $750, around $80 lower than previous Galaxy phone. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is going to hit the world covering 150+ countries on April 11, but there is still no official pricing announced from the Korean manufacturer.

Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to go on pre-order two weeks before launch. Many EU retailers have the Galaxy S5 already listed with prices, but those are unofficial and will be corrected once the retail pricing is confirmed.

All major US carriers will offer Samsung Galaxy S5

If you are waiting to buy Samsung Galaxy S5 under contract in US, then you have no reason to worry. Because it doesn’t matter which carrier you are using, you will be able to grab the latest Samsung flagship from your desired operator. The list of US carriers which will officially carry the smartphone includes AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, MetroPCS, and U.S. Cellular.

If you want to buy contract free Galaxy S5 also then you have numerous options on your hand. Again the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available in major retailers such as BestBuy, Amazon, Costco, RadioShack, etc. The Samsung Gear family will be available through carrier and retail channels.

Samsung Galaxy S5 price on contract

Pricing of the smartphone is yet to be confirmed. But it’s safe to say that Samsung 5th generation Galaxy phone will cost $199.99 with a two-year contract. The increasingly popular monthly installment payment options are also certain to be available. Though the price of unlocked Samsung galaxy S5 is still unclear but don't expect an opening price less than $750 without tax.

The Galaxy S5 will make its way to the United States in April, joined by the Samsung Gear family of wearable accessories which includes all the newly announced Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit.

Samsung Galaxy S5 might be included in ‘Medical Equipment’ category in Korea

I don’t know this is a good news or bad, but it’s worth mentioning because the news is related with Samsung’s latest flagship, Galaxy S5. Sammobile reports that they have found the evidence of one very interesting development inside South Korean health agency. They are considering designating the Galaxy S5 as “medical equipment.” A ministry official from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety did clarify that Samsung would be allowed to launch the device on schedule regardless of the decision undertaken by the review board. “Even if it is designated as a medical device, the procedure for testing its safety and functions is not complicated.” South Korean law stipulates that medical devices, defined as equipment used to diagnose, treat or prevent diseases, must be approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety before being sold in the market.

How to measure calories using Samsung Galaxy S5

As you are already aware that the Samsung Galaxy S5 has one built-in heart rate sensor. You can check your pulse by placing your finger on the sensor, which sits next to the LED flash at the back of the device. In addition to the heart rate monitor, the Galaxy S5 comes with a slew of new features that include a finger scanner, new camera sensor that can shoot 4K videos and enhanced battery saving techniques. The device is slated to launch globally on April 11 and will be available on all major carriers all around the world.

Samsung unveils Galaxy S5: Less WoW, it just WorKs

After months and months of rumor, leaks and speculation- Samsung turned everything upside-down and unveiled their latest Galaxy S flagship – The Samsung Galaxy S5. And Samsung is successful to match up most of the people-s demand except their all-rounder design and choice of build materials. Though the flagship opens a new chapter in Samsung's design – the back is still leather-like, but with a brand new look. It also has IP67 certification meaning its now officially dust and water resistant (not proof). The core features too were duly updated to put the Galaxy S5 ahead of its S4 predecessor – a 5.1" Super AMOLED screen of 1080p resolution, Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2GB of RAM, Android 4.4.2, 150Mbps LTE and a 16MP UHD camera.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Best Online Deal

Another thing that didn’t turn out as whispered was TouchWiz – it's new and based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, but not as flat as some Holo fans would have hoped. No switch to on-screen buttons either – the Galaxy S5 has three keys below the screen, this time an App Switcher button replacing the Menu key. The battery is still user removable 2800mAh with new power saving feature.

Oh yes! Galaxy S5 have two new things. One is built in touch fingerprint sensor capable of doing lot more than Apple Touch ID and heart rate monitor at back. But at the Unpacked program its clear to see that Samsung guys are very excited over their camera features. It can shoot Ultra HD video just like Galaxy Note 3 at 30 fps with super-fast Auto Focus and live HDR shooting capability.

Samsung Galaxy S5 release date in india

Samsung’s also introducing new goods to S Health, with meal tracking and more nutritional information for you dieters out there, and an exercise log and mapped runs for those who like to keep track of where and how far they’ve run.

One thing is sure. As Samsung mention it in their event – they tried to make galaxy S5 simple and practical, unlike their Galaxy S3 and S4. There are no more numerous software tweaks, eye or air gestures. They invest more time to redefine and fine tune their previous goddies.

The Galaxy S5 will be available in four colors initially - Black, White, Blue and Copper. The US is getting only the Black and White ones though. But the good news is all major US carriers are expected to get the device (including MetroPCS and US Cellular), and you can bet it’ll also be stopping by every other corner of the world. Samsung mentioned it will be available over 150 countries at the same time at April 11. Unfortunately we still don’t have a price or date to look forward to.

Samsung scheduled Galaxy S5 Unpacked event for February 24

At last after so many rumours Samsung this time decided to uncover the Galaxy S5 revealing date to us. The Korean giant’s next major mobile product announcement will take place this February, on February 24 in Barcelona, right at the MWC kick-off. That’s the least expected date and I place I believe according to many experts. The invitations contain more than a subtle hint that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will break cover during the event. They have the number 5 on display which is as clear a suggestion as it gets in our book.

List of Galaxy S5 Confirmed Features

The same source also claims that Samsung has decided to keep it simple in terms of new software features, after many of the new features such as Air View on the Galaxy S4were considered gimmicky by critics. Instead, the company will focus on other features to make the device more attractive to relatively untapped audiences, such as business users, with features such as the KNOX security suite. While that’s certainly good news, as it could mean the S5 won’t add too heavily to the already existing bloat on Samsung devices, it might also come as disappointment to those who like to modify their phones’ software, as Samsung’s current implementation of KNOX has already caused enough problems with simple things such as getting root access.

A potential appearance of the Samsung Galaxy S5 during the Mobile World Congress guarantees it a great deal of spotlight. Samsung was relatively quiet during last year’s MWC and did not announce any flagship products. The Galaxy S5 is expected to sport a 5.25-inch display of 2K resolution, an Exynos 6 octa-core / quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16-megapixel rear camera, 3.2-megapixel front-facing camera, 32/64 GB of storage and a microSD slot, a 3,200 mAh battery, and Android 4.4 KitKat with a refined user interface. It will come in both a metallic and plastic variant, most likely with a fingerprint scanner on-board, and launch in markets sometime in March. These all are speculation at this moment. So we are not certain about all of these.

Samsung might introduce new one-hand operation UI in Galaxy S5

Every day we are hearing something new about the upcoming Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S5. Today is no different. This time we heard something new about the user interface in Galaxy S5. You may well aware that Samsung might introduce new TouchWiz Ui but there might be more in the Sammy’s hand. Korean patent information website called K.I.P.R.I.S published information about newly given patents to Samsung recently. And we are hoping that these images could give some idea about the upcoming S5 UI. According to the patent Samsung gives everyone the opportunity to choose which corner they want to use this function. Customers are now able to use one hand and select all kinds of functions such as apps, notifications or favorite calls. We have to say that this looks very useful to use on big smartphones with huge displays.

New Samsung Galaxy S5 Android User Menu

Secondly Samsung received patents on probably their new music interface which is deeply integrated with social media. If we will see this application called “Friends Music” back on the Galaxy S5 remains the question. According to the latest rumors will Samsung introduce the GALAXY S5 on day before MWC 2014. But there is no official word behind this as well.

Evleaks shows us future Samsung TouchWiz UI

Within days after the last leak, Evleaks is on the headline again. This time they managed to grab 3 screenshots of the upcoming TouchWiz UI currently developing by the Samsung. According to them, Samsung is currently only "exploring" the user interface. More mature than the current TouchWiz UI versions, the new design is a bit more toned down and feels a bit more rounded. Additionally, the homescreens pack interesting widgets, but at this point we can't know for sure what they're doing.

Samsung Galaxy S5 UI Screenshots

We guess Samsung will be ready for the new version of TouchWiz to debut on the upcoming Galaxy S5. It's rumored that the company is rushing to announce the phone at MWC in Barcelona, although this is yet to be confirmed and it seems more likely that the company will hold its own event instead. We can hope once again it might be Evleaks that might give us more in the future about that too.

New rumors confirms the Metal finished premium Galaxy F along with S5 again

Samsung has been heavily criticized over the year for not making metal or aluminum casing for their premium devices. Now we all are hoping that the scenario will change in early 2014. Either Samsung Galaxy S5 or new premium series Galaxy F will feature metal body everyone is waiting for. Now another Korean source is giving same information again. ETNews reported that Samsung plans to make a high end metal smartphone: the Galaxy F. The phone will be decked out with a metal exterior. This is supported by earlier reports that a production line in Vietnam was created for making metal casings for the Galaxy S5.

Samsung Galaxy F release date

We also previously reported that Samsung had plans for a metal clad, premium line of smartphones, which will carry the model number SM-G900F, giving more and more credence to the phones rumored release. It should be launched around the same time as the highly awaited Galaxy S5.

The Galaxy F is purported to be Samsung's newest top-of-the line handset, but we don't know if this "premium" approach extends to the device's technical specs. There's been rumors that in addition to the metal body of the Galaxy F, the phone will sport an QHD 2K display (2,560x1,600 pixels). However, these rumors are unsubstantiated. So keep your eyes open for any new developments.

Latest Galaxy S5 rumor: Sony may provide 16MP camera for S5

We just saw Samsung Galaxy Note 3 last month but it seems that the event only fired the rumor mill for next galaxy flagship device, Galaxy S5. We already heard lots of thing but we have no idea whatever is coming next. Now according to ETNEws Sony and Samsung LSI are prepping themselves for a bidding war to become the main supplier of the camera, which according to sources is a 16MP sensor.

Samsung LSI has that ISOCELL technology to give it an edge as well as optical image stabilization, but that's only available in a 13 MP module for now. There's also the fact that Samsung LSI is part of Samsung itself so it has better connections around the Mobile division. But we all have to admit that Sony has truly an extraordinary touch to make camera sensors works. So don’t forget about that part of the equation.
There are few other rumors in the market. First concerning the CPU, which is said to be 64-bit octa-core Exynos. We've heard about this chipset before and is said to be a 14nm Exynos 6. 4 GB of RAM is also mentioned, but that sounds more like a wishlist than actual insider information. We also heard about rugged Galaxy S5 too. So hope for the best!
