Asus has just released the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for its famous PadFone 2. The device was announced back in October and is available in a very few countries. So it will be good news if you are next to buy it. You can upgrade only over-the-air for now. The update brings all the Project Butter smoothness, Google Now assistant with all Asus customizations are still present, of course.

The quad-core Krait-powered PadFone 2 is a expensive gadget, but is surely one of the best smartphone packages with that PadFone station turning the thing into a full-featured tablet.

Jelly Bean for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III is now live

The wait for Jelly Bean is finally over for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III users. After months and months of waiting and watching smaller carriers like T-Mobile push out their Jelly Beans, SGS III users on AT&T can finally get in on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. This makes AT&T the third major US carrier to release Jelly Bean to its Galaxy S III units, after Sprint at the end of October and T-Mobile last month.

At this stage there is no over-the-air option, you will have to use Kies to get the update. Just install the latest version of Samsung's proprietary software, connect your Galaxy S III and check for updates. A 738MB update should be there waiting for you.

After the update procedure is done, your Galaxy S III will be running on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and the latest TouchWiz UI on top of it. Here’s some of the things you can look forward to in Samsung’s TouchWiz’d Jelly Bean:

Phone-wide

• Pop Up Play can be resized and paused
• Introduction of Easy Mode: large Easy widgets (for first-time smartphone users)
• Introduction of Blocking Mode: disable incoming calls, notifications, alarms, and LED indicators for a designated period of time
• Introduction of Swype Keyboard (bundled)
• AllShare Cast Wireless Hub support
• NFC One Touch Pairing Support: pair a supported Bluetooth device via NFC

Camera

• New camera/camcorder filters: warm vintage, cold vintage, black and white, sepia, color highlights(blue, green, red/yellow), and many more.

Samsung rolling out Jelly Bean to GSIII, others will have it soon

The long-awaited roll-out appears to have commenced, with lucky GS III owners in Poland being among the first to get an early official taste of Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. After many leaks, the software update has started its official installation to your Galaxy S IIIs.

The first country to start receiving the update is Poland, but the rest of Europe should join the party soon. The firmware can be obtained OTA or via KIES. Samsung recommends you are on a Wi-Fi connection with at least 50% battery when you apply the update.

Jelly Bean does a lot to improve the Galaxy S III user experience. It will bring a host of subtle yet powerful improvements, including Google Now for anticipating search queries, smooth UI improvements from Project Butter, as well as some Samsung extras already seen on the Galaxy Note II, such as a resizable Pop-up play screen.

Other Samsung customers will also receive the same treatment soon. On the list are the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Music, Galaxy Chat, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Beam, Galaxy Ace Plus, Galaxy mini II and Galaxy S Duos. I am sure that all these devices will receive the Jelly Bean updates within weeks. But keep in mind that exact release date may be varied depending on your region.

Samsung Galaxy S II will receive Android Jelly Bean soon

Samsung already gave us there word on Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S II, now we are sure than ever after SamMobile guys reported that, Samsung is now testing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on their Galaxy S II handsets, and its working perfectly. It will be released to the public within 1-2 months and you have to download it via KIES.

There’s one more good news I have to write for you. If everything goes according to plan, then Samsung Galaxy Note users will also get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean by the time. So if you badly need a note now, don’t waste your time for the Galaxy Note 2.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is now official

We have Ice Cream Sandwich on our hand not for a long time but there is already a new version of Android operating system is announced by Google yesterday at Google I/O 2012. It will be known as Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Jelly Bean is not a complete new version of Android OS like the predecessor ICS, it mainly focuses on performance and stability. Google has dedicated a whole project codenamed Butter to improving Android performance.

By making the vsync of the screen at a constant 60 frames per second, it makes the UI smoother than ever. Google showed two Galaxy Nexus smartphones, one running Ice Cream Sandwich and the other Jelly Bean to demonstrate the huge difference that Project Butter makes. It's really quite impressive.

Jelly Bean brings new UI and gestures to camera, so you can swipe sideways to access the gallery. You can then quickly delete images by swiping them off the screen. The notification bar has also seen its fair share of changes. It shows you a more prominent looking clock and allows notifications from various apps like Music, Pulse and Gmail to be expanded to give you more details without having to open the app.

The keyboard typing is also improved, with better and more accurate predictive input and extended dictionary. On top of that, Voice Typing in now available offline. This means that it no longer requires data connection to work and its performance won't be affected by its slow speed.

A developer SDK preview available right now on the Android Developers website. Jelly Bean will be rolling out to Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and Xoom devices in mid-July, along with the open source code. New Google Nexus 7 tablet will also ship in July with Android 4.1 inside.
