So no matter how good they are, you must feel bored to use it. But after the release of Walton Primo X2 in last September, 2013 we are amused by its beauty and performance. It is the most powerful flagship android device from Walton mobile. 1080p, 5 inch displays, quad-core processors and 2GB RAM’s are all staples for the 2013 flagship smartphone model and Walton ticks all the above boxes with the Primo X2. You can easily compare it with the high end devices like iPhone 5 or Galaxy S4. But, in closer look it lacks some advance feature like DLNA, NFC, HDMI output etc. Most importantly dual-SIM and memory card is also absent in Walton primo X2 which are not welcomed by anybody.

Walton primo X2 is in fact a re-branded version of the Gionee Elife E6. Gionee is the third largest handset maker in China and most of its devices are known in their re-branded name in those market. Previously some of its device has been re-branded in Bangladesh market by Walton and Symphony. Moving on to the performance- The X2 is able to perform regulation tasks such as browsing through the menu, scrolling, opening apps and typing without a hitch. Browsing multiple complex webpages and multitasking all can be done nicely. The X2 runs Android 4.2 jellybean topped-off with Amigo UI; a decent addition to stock Android with its fluid & punchy animations, certainly will attract the younger crowd.

The 5 inch 1080p IPS screen of the phone exhibits good natural colors with appreciable contrast and viewing angles. The ultra-high pixel density of 441ppi ensures reading text while browsing the web is simply a joy. However, sunlight legibility remains a weakness and under direct sunlight, things can become a little murky.

If we are talking about gaming then Walton primo X2 might not be the best out there. It scores a paltry 14fps on the Epic Citadel benchmark, where the Galaxy S4 scores around 45fps. That does not mean the X2 is a gaming slouch either as all the latest games can be played with ease, just not with maxed-out graphics. Overall the quad-core 1.5 GHz MediaTek MT6589T does more than an adequate job but hardcore mobile gamers might want to give this a closer look.

You can use Walton Primo X2 a full day in a single charge which is quite an achievement to have fit in, considering the anorexic waistline of the X2. Another good news is it can go zero to hundred percent with 1 and half hour of charging.



Now time for mentioning Walton Primo X2 drawbacks. Before begin my points I have to say the main concern here. It’s a 24000 taka device where you can get 50000 taka features and look. So don’t expect that everything will be as like as Samsung galaxy S4 or HTC One. I am writing the disadvantages in point below-

• It’s not a dual SIM Android phone like all others.
• X2 even lacks a MicroSD card slot. You have to deal with 24.94GB user available memory.
• The battery is also non-removable as it is in unibodyform so overclockers might want to rethink before doing so.
• The sound quality is not too good. It’s not even loud.
• The call quality is not on par to the specs that this phone offers.
• No OTG support

Final Thoughts
For its price, the X2 is a little expensive for local brands. But it is still excellent value for the rich feature-set it comes with, considering other phones with similar specs cost a lot more. The camera is good with even better 5MP front shooter. Games with intense graphics occasionally get slowed down. If you are looking for a phone that looks cool, performs even cooler and does not cost you over 40k taka – this is the best phone you can buy.

The storage capacity in the Nexus 7 is 16 GB and 32 GB. They have had a 8 GB model while initially launching the tablets which they later eliminated because it wasn’t sufficient and also, wasn’t getting much response from the consumers. There’s no memory expansion slot however, probably because Google likes cloud storages more than on board expandable options.

The Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 comes up with identical internal memory storage options but it has an optional microSD expansion port so you can conveniently increase the memory. Useful if you frequently switch your memory.

There’s no camera in the Nexus 7 2012 version while the MeMO Pad HD 7 has a not-so-awesome but pretty good camera. Won’t blow you away, you will just love it for occasional self-shots or capturing your class notes from a copy.

Quick Review: LG Optimus F7

The Optimus F7 is another mid-range phone launched by LG in their ‘F’ series. LG is aiming for Smartphone users who don’t have a budget for expensive phones but also don’t want to compromise performance.

The phone measures 5.19” tall, 2.69” wide, and 0.38” thick. It doesn’t have that ‘cutting-edge’ design but it’s not something you would call ‘ugly’ either. The front of the phone sports a 4.7” display with the earpiece, sensors and front camera above it and the mouthpiece, home button and capacitive buttons below it. At the back is an 8MP camera with autofocus but no flash and the speaker.

The 4.7” display is a True HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with light and proximity sensors. It boasts a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The resolution is more than enough for the display not to be stretched out, resulting in a pixel density of 312ppi. Viewing angles are great and touch responsiveness is solid. Although it’s True HD, it’s not as sharp as the displays that top-tier phones have but it isn’t bad for a mid-range phone.



At the back of the phone is an 8MP camera while at the front is a 1.3MP camera. The rear camera has autofocus but no flash. That means that although it’s an 8MP shooter, you can’t expect it to perform well in places with little light available. The front camera can be used for taking quick self-portraits or for video conversations with family and friends. Powering the F7 is a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It runs on Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean with LG making some tweaks with the UI. If you want to share or get files from another device, you can do so through Bluetooth. In case you have files on your computer that you want to have also on the F7, you can do it through the micro USB port.

The 2540mAH battery should be able to last a full day in one charging. The resolution may be high but the processor is not a fast one, so that definitely helps increase the battery life. In addition, it’s removable, so in case you’re on the road and you suddenly run on empty, you can just swap it with a spare battery.

With decent specs and a considerably affordable price tag, the Optimus F7 will certainly turn some heads in the Smartphone market. There might be some tough competition ahead of it but it does have enough under its hood to do well enoug.
