Apple iPad: A trend setter in Tablet riot

January 27th, 2010, was a revolutionary day in the history of tablet computing. Apple Inc’s CEO Steve Jobs introduced “iPad” to the world. 300,000 iPads were sold on the day of its launch. Even today, iPad is the most used and commercially successful computer tablet around the world.

History of iPad
Apple had launched a product named “Newton message pad” in 1993. Newton was a personal digital assistance (PDA) device developed by Apple. It looked like iPhone, but it had limited features. It had a pen enabled interface. It was not a commercial success, but now people feel that it was Apple’s first step towards iPhone and iPad. Reports suggest that Apple was working on iPad since 2007, after the launch of their successful mobile phone known as “iPhone”. iPad uses touch screen technology similar to that used in iPhone.

Apple launched iPad on January 27th 2010. iPad 2 was launched on March 2nd 2011 and sold 30 million units in 2011. iPad’s third generation device was launched on March 7th 2012. Apple sold 3 million iPads (third generation) after just 3 days of its launch. Apple’s iPad has generated thousands of jobs for apps makers around the globe. It is said that Google’s android market (now known as Google play) is actually inspired from Apple’s app store.
history of apple tablet
Steve Jobs was one of Apple’s founders; he was given all the credit for making apple successful in mobile phone and table computer market. It was Steve Job’s vision to develop a great tablet computing device. Steve passed away on October 5th 2011.

Features of iPad
Apple’s iPad offers exiting and impressive features, which no other tablet computer maker can offer. The latest version of Apple’s iPad (third generation) has a stunning retina display, quad-core graphics with A5X chip and a 5 megapixel camera which captures amazing photos and 1080p HD video. It works with 4G LTE networks. It has iOS 5.1 operating system; this is world’s most advanced operating system for mobile phones. iOS 5.1 also works with iCloud; iCloud is Apple’s cloud computing and storage service. It allows users to store music files, photos, etc on remote computer servers which can be downloaded to personal computers running on windows operating system or other iOS based devices.

Users can access app store from their iPad and download thousands of games, applications, videos, e-books, music files. Some of these items are available free of cost. Thousands of people download 3D games and full length HD movies from app store every day.

Craze for iPad
Apple launched iPad in 2010, followed by iPad 2 in 2011 and third generation of iPad with iOS 5 in 2012. Thousands of people queue up outside Apple stores around the world when Apple starts selling their newer version of iPad. According to a recent survey, every second person in the United States wants to own an iPad. People are even willing to sell their organs, so that they can get money to buy iPad. Till January 2012, Apple has sold more than 67 million iPads around the world.

Unsuccessful competitors
Some of iPad’s technical details were our even before its release. These details tempted Apple’s competitors to come up with their own tablet computers, and cause “tablet riot”. Many companies made unsuccessful attempts to launch their own tablet computers to compete with Apple’s iPad. Companies like HP, Dell, Motorola, HTC, and Benq failed to impress people with their tablet computers. Some competitors ended up filing bankruptcy after spending millions on product development. Only Samsung’s Galaxy tab series which works on Google’s android operating system is able to successfully compete with Apple’s iPad.

Apple iPad can give you access to thousands of 3D games, music files, applications, full HD movies, eBooks and also help you in your office work. So, start saving few bucks every day, and buy this wonderful device for yourself, or your loved once.

Apple brought tablet computing in the limelight. Today apple is the market leader for tablet computers. Personal computer and laptop makers have noticed that people are slowly moving from personal computers towards tablet computers. Tablet computers like iPad can perform almost all tasks of personal computer or laptop. Out of hundreds of competitors, only Samsung’s galaxy tab was able to survive the “tablet riot”.

New iPad’s A5X Vs iPad 2's A5 Vs Tegra 3

The world is seeing an unprecedented surge in the advancement of technology which can be very well visualized by the fact that stand-alone mobile devices and Desktop PC’s are almost obsolete. We live in a world that has been taken over by the likes of smartphones and tablets. As the tablet war gains momentum, top companies like Apple and Samsung, continue their race to produce smarter & faster tablets.

When iPad 2 was released, the A5 chip that it carried was then the most powerful SoC (System on Chips) with a dual core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, a dual core GPU and 512 MB of DDR2 Ram. Apparently, the GPU was as much as seven times faster than the GPU and the CPU was twice as fast as that was present in the earlier iPad. It was only after Asus’s Transformer Prime’s Tegra 3, an android based SoC by Nvidia, did Apple’s A5 lose its top slot. With a quad core 1.4 GHz CPU and a GPU with 24 cores, the crown was undeniably destined to the Nvidia Tegra 3.

Recently Apple announced that its new SoC, A5x would be a part of Apple's third generation tablet iPad and also claimed it to be much faster and powerful than Tegra 3. The idea of iPad3's A5x, sporting a dual core 1 GHz CPU and a quad-core GPU, outrunning the Tegra 3 that carried flaunts much heavier configuration did seem pretty absurd to most people in tech community. To check, IGN carried out several benchmark tests on Tegra 3, A5 and A5x.

GeekBench test, GLBenchmark Egypt test, and GLBenchmark Pro for graphics test were carried on the three SoCs including a test on A5x without Apple's powerful retina display, to check its actual “off-screen” capacity.

Comparison
To everyone’s surprise it was iPad 2’s A5 that outperformed both A5x and the Tegra 3. Although with the GeekBench scores 1540 and 750, Tegra 3 went past the A5 and A5x easily, it was GL Benchmark tests that showed the A5’s superiority over both A5x and Tegra 3. As for the GLBenchmark 2.1 Egypt test, iPad again proved to be by far the better out of the two with a score of 59 FPS at a screen resolution of 1024X768 where as iPad 3’s A5x had a frame rate of 53 fps and ran a total of 5974 frame at a screen resolution of 2048×1536. Galaxy Tab’s Tegra 3, on the other hand, produced 5955 frames at 52 fps, inching behind A5x just be a small margin. The off screen tests showed that A5x was capable of producing over 15,000 frames at a rate of 138 fps where as the the older A5 produced just 10,000 frames at 90 fps. Tegra 3 too lagged behind the A5x when the retina display was not powered to it.

Winner
Overall the iPad 2's A5 wins hands down over the iPad 3's A5x and Asus Transformer Prime's Tegra 3. Ironically, most people did not even consider A5 to be even a competition to the mighty Tegra 3 at the first thought.

All the Droid Tabs holding 26.9% market share in Q3, still long way to go

After getting the number of total Android running tablet in the wild, we are now playing with some other figures. Around 4.5 million droid tabs are sold in Q3, which is 26.9% of total sells. The iPad continues to be the undisputed tablet market leader, selling 66.6% of 16.7 million tablet sells.

In the Q2 Android had a market share of 30.1% and it was looking like it has the potential to challenge the iPad dominance. Now that it has lost some ground, despite the new Android tablets that are seemingly coming out every week, questions will need to be asked. Or maybe Google answered those in advance with the introduction of Ice Cream Sandwich. We will see the difference in Q4.
ipad vs android tablet selling report
Microsoft’s Windows holds 2.4% of the market, while RIM’s QNX run on just 1.2% of the slates shipped. Those two had 4.6% and 3.3% shares in Q2 respectively, so their prospects are looking even worse. What are you thinking? Is Windows 8 a threat for iOS?

Samsung Announces Thinner Galaxy Tab 10.1 with New 8.9-inches Version

It’s not too long Samsung announced their 2nd Android tablet Galaxy Tab 10.1 back in January 2011 along with LG Optimus Pad. Both of this high end tablets are lost their way after the announcement and release of iPad 2 in March. Especially with reasonable price and attractive design in thinner shape make iPad 2 successful. So it is clearly must to do for LG & Samsung to upgrade their upcoming tablet pc even before release. And Samsung responds quicker than LG to reshape their tablet. They make their tablet thinner and show its face in CTIA fair.

OK if it is not hot news for you then must be delighted to hear that they are now ready to gives you a brand new tablet with smaller size of 8.9-inches screen. Hardware in these two Android tablets is almost identical. Both of them have dual core 1 GHz CPU, keep in mind that iPad 2 has 900 MHz dual core Apple A5 CPU.how much thin samsung galaxy tab 10.1 is?samsung galaxy tab 8.9 front and back view
Two main advantages of these two tablets over iPad 2 are both of them are thinner and lighter then iPad 2.

Price of Wi-Fi only version is now official. Samsung will launch Galaxy Tab 10.1 in June 8th on $499 for 16GB version and $599 for 32GB version. A 64GB version of Galaxy Tab is also coming by that time but we don’t know the specific pricing yet.

For Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 these two prices is $469 and $569 respectively. Price of quad-band GPRS/EDGE and quad-band 3G with 21Mbps HSPA+ are still unknown.

Despite of new 10.1 inches model we heard that Samsung will release earlier 10.1 Galaxy Tab model in some regions. But if you are a US resident then you must be happy to know that thicker version will not be coming toward you.

iPad 2 Price Might Forces Samsung to Reduce Galaxy Tab 10.1 Price

Samsung announced their Android 3.0 Honeycomb running 10.1’’ display tablet, Galaxy Tab 10.1 back in February 2011. However, they are yet to announce its price and global availability date. But we assume that they are going to price it higher than original Galaxy Tab released last year with 7.0’’ screen. But now it seems that Apple hits Samsung so hard with iPad 2 hardware and especially price. Samsung I think could not imagine Apple will able to sell such an improved tablet at this kind of cheap rate. Even the thickness also hit Samsung.

samsung galaxy tab 10.1 price is higher than ipad 2
So according to many sources after the interview of Samsung’s Mobile executive vice-president Lee Don-Joo Samsung will certainly need to improve their Galaxy Tab design and price. Whether improvement in design may come in future tablets by Samsung. But we are sure that they are thinking about Galaxy Tab 10.1 price seriously now. Because Samsung realize that after the iPad 2 announcement by Steve Jobs it is impossible to sell Galaxy Tab 10.1 at any higher prices than iPad 2. They must reduce Galaxy Tab 10.1 price even before its release! That’s good for us. So we are expecting a reasonable price for Galaxy Tab 10.1 around $500-600.
