Samsung starts selling Galaxy S Duos 2 in Bangladesh for 13,900 taka

Samsung unveiled Galaxy S Duos 2 last December but it takes two long months for them to ship the phone in Bangladesh. May be original Galaxy S Duos and Core are selling too well in this country so that Samsung don’t want to disrupt the sells! First Galaxy S Duos was I high success for Samsung in the emerging markets like India and Bangladesh. So I am sure that they are hoping the same again. Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 has many minor upgrades over its predecessor. You can check out my personal finding about Galaxy S Duos 2 in this review.

Galaxy S Duos 2 Android 4.3 ROM

Starting with it has a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU with same amount of 768MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. As always microSD card slot is there to give you opportunity to have 64GB od data in less cost. It runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 which is not bad. The screen is 4.0 inches with 480 X 800 pixels. And as always there is no shortage of Connectivity options in a Samsung phone but don't expect OTG support here.

Galaxy S Duos 2 has a 5MP shooter capable of delivering not bad quality 720p@30 video. It has a VGA front camera supporting video call on 3G/HSPA network. Battery is 1500mAh in size and the phone weighs 118 grams. Samsung Bangladesh is selling the phone just for 13,900 taka ($180) which is very good deal considering they are selling original Galaxy S Duos for 16,900 taka ($220) till yesterday. Even other shops selling the phone without warranty for over 15,000 taka. Samsung obviously giving 2 years of warranty with it. At the same time Amazon is selling this dual-SIM phone in US for $185. It will be a great choice if you want to use separate mobile carrier for your data and voice usage in US. This certainly will help you to reduce you monthly mobile bill.

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 review: Advantages and Disadvantages

Among thousands of Samsung Galaxy series devices, we have a hard time to remember the details of so many phones except S and Note devices. Because every week there is some show off from Samsung. If you are considering the local market around the word then I can say that every day is a new day for Samsung press guys. One good thing this is Samsung never forgets to release entry level smartphones. They always release some excellent cheap Android phones in several markets (especially Asian) and also upgrade the device once or twice in a year. And one of the few devices I remember most is Samsung Galaxy S Duos phone. Samsung release it few months after the galaxy S 3 release with the boring same design and mediocre features. But yes the device is a nice choice for entry level buyers with all the basic functions.

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 vs Galaxy Grand 2

In last December, 2013 Samsung released the 2nd generation version of galaxy S Duos, known as Galaxy S Duos 2 S7582. But I am astonished to see that Samsung only changes the Android version, processor and video recording capability of the device. So it’s a minor upgrade regarding the first phone. But the great news is the price is a little bit higher from the original one. Over the last month I also recommended few people to buy this phone because of its cost saving habit. The device supports Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Assamese, Marathi and Gujarati language to make it desirable for Indian and Bangladeshi customers. But how good is this device? Let’s find out.

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 main features-
  • 1.2 GHz dual core processor
  • 768MB RAM
  • 4-inch 480 x 800 pixels 16M display
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 5 MP back camera + 0.3 MP front camera
  • Dual SIM (3G + GSM)
  • 4GB internal memory (1.8GB user available)
  • Expandable storage capacity of 64GB
Now time to review this feature. Find out what’s good and what’s bad in it.

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 vs Galaxy Core

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 Advantages-
  • One of the cheapest dual core Android phones out there
  • Reasonable Android version; not very good, not bad
  • Good camera, still photos are fine in details, video camera is capable of shooting 720p video
  • Have both A-GPS and GLONASS
  • Supports Wi-Fi 802.11n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA and Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Dual SIM is always a nice to have feature
Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 Disadvantages-
  • S Duos 2 should have 1GB RAM matching with its CPU upgrade
  • Thicker than original device
  • Screen quality is not so good
  • Android 4.3 would be better for everyone, especially TRIM is a nice option to have
  • 1.8GB user available memory, one large game can take all this space in a matter of day
  • Voice call and loud speaker quality is great
No matter what are the drawbacks of Samsung galaxy S Duos 2, I have to admit – it is a great device in such price range. It is an all-rounder Android phone with all the modern features. The Samsung galaxy S Duos 2 is available in both black and white color options. You can grab the device for Rs 10,190 in India, 16,000 taka in Bangladesh. In the meantime Amazon is selling this dual-SIM phone in US for $185. It will be a great choice if you want to use separate mobile carrier for your data and voice usage. This certainly will help you to reduce you monthly mobile bill.
