That's why Google uploaded two new videos today are of the “beginners’ guide type” in that they help newbies switch over to the Pixel from an iPhone and then get started in their brave new world through a few quick tips. The first video is “Switching from iPhone”, and explains how to prepare your iPhone for transferring data to your Google Pixel or Pixel XL. You only need an OTG cable/adapter to proceed. For your's sake, every Pixel owner has one of those thingies in their Pixel retails box.



Ther watching the 1st video and assuming that you have done these steps correctly then its time to watch the 2nd one. This will help you get familiar with the ins and outs of the Google Pixel and getting used to the on-screen controls. It also shows you how to open Google Assistant, and use the navigation buttons. Overall, it shows you how to get around the Pixel Launcher, particularly the new app-drawer opening gesture.

Nexus lineup is officially buried under the Pixel name, Google confirms

With the announcement of Google's new Pixel and Pixel XL today, there has been the question of what's happening to the long-running Nexus hardware program, which started in 2010 with the Nexus One and has been comprised of eight phones, four tablets, and two media players. So now as the Pixel duo is already up for pre-order in some markets , what about the company's long-running Nexus line? In a way, the Pixels can be considered the successors to the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P from last year, after all. So will there be any more Nexuses, perhaps that rumored Huawei built small tablet?

According to Google, the company has "no plans" for a future Nexus product, marking the likely end of the Nexus run. To add insult to injury, the aforementioned Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X are gone from Google's online store - all traces of them have been removed. You can still order them from other retailers of course, but it's unclear how long that option will remain open. It's also a mystery if they will ever get the full Pixel software suite, including the new Google Assistant functions. For now anyway, if you want any of that you're going to have to shell out a pretty large amount of dough and purchase a Pixel or Pixel XL.



The Nexus phones and tablets were embraced by enthusiasts and largely ignored by the general public. Nexus phones and tablets were the first devices to get new versions of Android when they were released, and they frequently had hardware features that took advantage of new software features Google was showcasing in the latest versions of Android. Android 5.2 running Nexus 5 appears online

While most people in the US and rest of the world are still waiting for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, there are already 5.1 and 5.2 sightings and rumors.Where Android’s latest OS – 5.0 Lollipop – is still only found on almost 1.6% of the devices across the globe, Google looks to be in a hurry to rush with subsequent updates, something Android users have become accustomed to now.

A few days ago we reported that Android 5.1 is now official and is already shipping with Android One devices, but a benchmark test suggests that the Nexus 5 might possibly be given another OS update. This time, it could get the alleged Android 5.2 operating system.



The results of a Geekbench benchmark test dated Feb. 17 posted online shows details of an LG Nexus 5 that runs using the still unreleased Android 5.2 OS. Based on the benchmark report, the LG-manufactured smartphone from Google managed to get speed test scores of 934 on single-core and 2992 on multi-cores.

Of course it is natural that Nexus devices are first in line for every iteration of Google's mobile OS, but the jump from 5.1 to 5.2 in such a short time frame is a little bit odd, especially seeing how AOSP branches currently only reach version 5.0.2. We certainly wouldn't rule it out though with one possible explanation being a major bug fix or perhaps even a big new feature. There is, however also the possibility of a custom ROM intentionally reporting a false Android version.

After Verizon Wireless they are now the second US operator who decides to offer their customers contract free Moto G just for $99.99. The deal is only good when paired with one of US Cellular’s off-contract plans, like their new 500MB unlimited plan for $50. Coupled with the low-priced Moto G, that’s a pretty good deal for mild data users. There’s nothing need to say about Moto G’s capability. It is not in the class of other devices in $100 price range. It has latest Android 4.4.2 on board with respectable hardware power inside to do your every day’s task without any hassle.



Check out US Cellular site for details. If you want to buy this phone in near future it will be safe if you order this as early as you can. Because Moto G has a habit of disappearing fast. After all it is safe and sound deal in the world of smartphones.

In the mean time Amazon is another place to buy Moto G and other smartphones. Though their current price of 8GB unlocked global GSM Moto G is not too attractive. You need to spend around $179.99 for it.

Google sold Motorola Mobility to Lenovo: But Why?

It was late night, probably around 3.45AM. I was watching Barcelona vs Levante football match on TV. Suddenly my Galaxy S3 made a buzz. It is nothing special. Your Android can buzz thousands time a day. I picked up my phone and looked up into lock screen. It was a CNET breaking news and it states ‘Lenovo buying Motorola from Google. More to follow.’ It’s the one of a kind news that you may never expect to hear, at least without any pre speculation. Immediately I picked up my laptop and start searching. Most of the sites have nothing on that matter at that point. But after a few minutes the news hung on every top websites. I have only one question at that time. Why Google? Why? After Moto X and Moto G success what could possibly lead them to do this?

One of the few reasons could be Google’s revenue decline as it continued to drag down company’s balance sheet, with the unit's operating loss actually widening to $384 million from $152 million a year ago. Let’s do some math. Lenovo bought Motorola Mobility from Google for $2.91 billion, which would make it around two and a half years since Google bought Moto for $12.5 billion in 2011. So by using simple math, you get that Google has lost some $9.6 billion in the process. Adding the money Motorola drained from Google on a quarterly basis the figure is even over $10 cool billion. Keep in mind that Google doesn’t sell the large portfolio of patents they bought from Motorola. It also got to keep the modular Project Ara.



When Google bought Motorola the latter was sitting on $3 billion in cash and close to $1 billion in tax credits so the deal cost Google around $8.5 billion. Then Google sold Moto’s set-top box business to Arris for around $2.4 billion, rounding the total to $6.1 billion. Finally by subtracting the $2.9 billion from Lenovo and you’re looking at a $3.2 billion loss by Google.

Google will likely have to suffer through a few more quarters as the deal goes through approval. The company hasn't stated when it will close. Motorola directly employs over 4,000 people, many of them at its headquarters in Libertyville. For the moment, at least, those employees and the executive team appear to be safe. Lenovo officials said there were no immediate plans for layoffs or a leadership shakeup. Things are a little more uncertain for those who rely indirectly on Motorola for their paycheck.

The deal, however, turns Lenovo into the third largest smartphone maker in the world. Lenovo is particularly proud of its investment in America. The CEO, Yang Yuanqing, even took time out during the Motorola press conference to reference President Barack Obama's call to invest in America during the State of the. In a follow-up statement, it claimed that the purchases of Motorola and IBM's server business mean that it has invested about $6 billion in the American market since 2005.

Flextronics cannot predict the future and, while it's hopeful about extending its manufacturing partnership with Motorola, it acknowledged that everything could change in a year from now. Still, when one of the few companies building PCs in the US joins forces with the only company building smartphones in the US, it's hard not to be at least slightly optimistic about the future of high-tech manufacturing in the country.

No matter what I am reading everywhere I am still not clear about Google’s intention. They are not like this type. I don’t believe they bought Motorola 2 years ago for making quick cash. Yeah I know about the patents but when you are in track, thinking about closing nexus line – all of a sudden it’s a shocking deal.

Motorola launches dual-SIM Moto G in Malaysia for $210

It looks like Australians won't be the only Android fans able to grab the dual-SIM version of Moto G from January 21, as Motorola has just announced the smartphone will be available in Malaysia as well. Just like the Australian launch, the dual-SIM Moto G will go on sale in Malaysia beginning on January 21. Moto G will be available for purchase via major carrier, retailers and authorized resellers across the country.

The mid-range smartphone packs some pretty awesome hardware for its price. For example, there’s a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, a 4.5-inch 720p display, 5MP camera, a 2070mAh battery and an almost vanilla Android 4.3.



The 8GB model will be available for 698 RM off contract, which is about $210 or €155. On the other hand, the 16GB Moto G will be up for grabs for 798 RM ($240 / €180) outright. There are no differences between the single-SIM and dual-SIM versions of Moto G, except for the number of SIM slots included with each.

Malaysian online retailer Lazada Malaysia is already taking pre-orders and promises to fulfill them on January 21. Early adopters will be treated to a screen protected and a Motorola Flip Shell free of charge.

Google’s Moto G is now available in Bangladesh for 19,900 taka

Google’s smart and affordable smartphone, the Moto G, is finally available in Bangladesh. Several importers are already started selling the handset without any warranty. Moto G, which was launched in the last months of 2013 in several markets, is a phone aimed at price-conscious buyers. The device follows up on the philosophy of Google, which acquired Motorola Mobility in 2012. After its acquisition by Google, Motorola is focusing on creating lower-priced handsets. Moto G 8GB version is now priced 19,900 taka ($255) and 16GB version is priced 21,900 taka ($280) in Bangladesh. a dual-SIM version of 16GB Moto G is also available in Bangladesh for 22,900 taka ($295). This is quite a lot regarding Moto G US price but still Moto G is a great performer even in this price range.



Moto G is a phone with 4.5-inch screen that has a 720P resolution. It is powered by a middle-of-line quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz. The device comes with 8GB and 16GB storage and has 1GB RAM. The primary camera can shoot images in 5MP while the secondary camera is good for 1.3MP images. The phone is one of the few available Android devices that run KitKat 4.2.2, the latest version of the mobile OS.

Google has already announced that the Moto G will start selling in India and other markets from January. Google launched the Moto G on the Google Play in the US market on last Wednesday. In the US the phone is officially priced at $179 and $199 for the unlocked versions.

$100 Moto G coming to Verizon in no contract mode

Moto G aggressive marketing reaches a new height in New Year. Best Buy is selling the Motorola Moto G for Verizon with no contract for $99.99. The Los Angeles Times reported the lower priced CDMA variant of the Moto G, indicating that it will be sold through Best Buy retailers all over the United States. At this range the 4.5-inch HD screen device is one of the cheapest, high-quality smartphones to go on sale in the U.S. with no contract. Motorola had previously said the device would go on sale from U.S. carriers in early 2014.



Best Buy announced the arrival of the no-contract Verizon Moto G after an image of the gadget was posted Monday on Google+ by a Best Buy Mobile employee, who said in the comments of the image that the device would be available for about $100.

The Moto G went on sale from Motorola and Amazon last December for $179 and $199 for 8-gigabyte and 16-gigabyte versions, respectively. At this moment the offer is currently only available for the Verizon-only version of the Moto G, so anyone who resides outside of the US will be out of luck.

Moto G gets Android 4.4.2 KitKat ahead of Christmas

Moto G is one of cutest and best value Android out in the US market. And Google decides to give it KitKat 4.4.2 taste ahead of Christmas. The update is already on the roll. Android 4.4.2 is seeding to Nexus devices

Google is always treating their Nexus branded devices with seriousness than all other devices. That’s why they are always releasing the latest firmware to Nexus devices and if anything goes wrong they are always ready to release a bug fix for it. Only last month they released Android 4.4 KitKat to Nexus devices. While no other smart devices taste it so far Google is kind enough to release two bug fixes for it, Android 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 today.

Some of the Nexus users earlier reported that Android 4.4.1 update doesn’t fix their camera bug so Google is replying fast with KOT49H update which bumps the device firmware version to Android 4.4.2 KitKat. This upgrade doesn’t change much over 4.4.1, but it does bring a few bug fixes that should go toward a better overall user experience.

The upgrades are rolling out over the air. Don’t forget to charge your battery and turn on WiFi, though we hear this is a very light upgrade by today’s standards. You’ll be able to get this upgrade on all the latest Nexus devices, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 10, and Nexus 7 tablets (both 2012 and 2013 models).

Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 vs. Nexus 7 (2012)

The 7 inch tablet battle is in its highest peak now. So, that’s the crucial point of any smart devices. What hardware do these two device have? Talking about the Nexus 7, it has a Tegra 3 Quad Core processor which is a hot cake for gamers. Although Tegra 4 is out in the market now but still the previous version hasn’t lost all its interests. 1 GB RAM is a little less for today’s standard but there aren’t many devices out there with a 2 GB RAM.

About the Asus MeMO Pad HD 7, it has a quad core 1.2 GHz Mediatek chipset based on the Cortex A-7 architecture. Although it’s a quad core processor but not up to the mark like the Nexus 7, because of the inexpensive build architecture. But you get what you pay for, and it still manages a stellar performance for daily use. Unless you are a hardcore gamer, it won’t even be a problem.

Software
The Nexus 7 2012 was launched with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and as a Nexus device it will be getting Android updates as soon as they are released. The MeMO Pad runs on Jelly Bean 4.2.1 which they said will receive further updates soon.

Miscellaneous
The storage capacity in the Nexus 7 is 16 GB and 32 GB. They have had a 8 GB model while initially launching the tablets which they later eliminated because it wasn’t sufficient and also, wasn’t getting much response from the consumers. There’s no memory expansion slot however, probably because Google likes cloud storages more than on board expandable options.

The Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 comes up with identical internal memory storage options but it has an optional microSD expansion port so you can conveniently increase the memory. Useful if you frequently switch your memory.

There’s no camera in the Nexus 7 2012 version while the MeMO Pad HD 7 has a not-so-awesome but pretty good camera. Won’t blow you away, you will just love it for occasional self-shots or capturing your class notes from a copy.

Wrap Up
Speaking about both the tablets, they are both okay for daily performance, both are intended to be robust performer. But in case you wish to be doing hardcore gaming, we suggest you get the Nexus 7 as it is found that the MeMO Pad HD 7 often stutters while playing high end games. Other than that, both are fine. Pick the one that is within your budget range.

Google unveils new quad-core Krait Nexus 7

As expected Google unveils their new Nexus 7 tablet at the Google event a few days ago. It's a $230 tab with 7" 1920 X 1200 pixel display running Android 4.3. It's the highest resolution 7" display on a tablet. The screen also promises a 30% wider color gamut. Asus made Nexus 7 has a Snapdragon S4 Pro with quad-core Krait processor at 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM and Adreno 320 inside.

The main camera is 5 megapixel shooter capable of handling 1080p video. At the front it has a 1.2MP front-facing camera. It also has a SlimPort, which means you can get HD video out of the microUSB port. Other connectivity features are dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 (Android 4.3 adds native support for 4.0 + LE) and NFC. Wireless charging is also supported.

While the display size was kept the same, the new Nexus 7 is smaller. Google and Asus shaved off 1.8mm off the thickness, 2.8mm of the bezels on either sides and reduced the weight by 50g. Google kept well-liked the soft touch back.

For storage, there's 16GB for the base model, $230, and 32GB for $270. Those prices are for the Wi-Fi only model, the 4G LTE model comes in 32GB only and costs $350.

Google announced the Wi-Fi and 4G LTE models of the Nexus 7 from the get go this time around. One device will be able to use 4G from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, no different versions required.

The Nexus 7 2 will be available starting July 30 through the Google Play store and a number of retailers including Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, Staples, Amazon.com. In the coming weeks, Google will expand availability for the 2nd generation Nexus 7 to Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Australia, Japan and South Korea.

Google Nexus 7 Tablet is now in Bangladesh for 25,000 taka

After a long delay Google Nexus 7 tablet is now available in Bangladesh through many importers. Least they are asking around 25,000 taka ($305) for the 8GB tab. Price of 16GB version is around 30,000 taka ($370). Like other Nexus-branded devices, the Nexus 7 tablet isn't actually hardware manufactured by Google, it’s made by Asus.

The hottest selling point of Nexus tab is its price. It’s the cheapest tab in quad-core category with the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. Powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor with 1GB RAM and either 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage, you have all the power needed inside to do anything. The 7-inch 1200 x 800 HD backlit IPS display packs a respectable 216 pixels per inch onto the screen. There is no hard button in Google Nexus 7. A 1.2MP front-facing camera rests at the top of the tablet, which is covered entirely by Corning glass. At the bottom of the unit is a micro-USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack and a thin speaker port.

But there are two serious problems with Google Nexus tab. There is no rear camera and it has no GSM/CDMA communication capability. Which means Wi-Fi is the only source of information. So keep in your mind.

Google starts shipping Nexus 7 tab in US

Cheaper Asus Made Google Nexus 7 is the center of everyone’s attention for the last few weeks. Finally now US orders of the Nexus 7 have begun to ship from Google. Pre-orders are shipping from Google’s Play Store, Office Depot and Gamestop. Google has come out with a statement that the first wave of orders has already begun shipping and all pre-orders are scheduled to ship within 3 business days. Once your tablet ships, you will receive a confirmation email straight from Google.

Though the base price of Nexus 7 tab is only $199.99, it comes with Google’s latest version of Android – 4.1 Jelly Bean. It also has a 7″ 1280 x 800 display, a quad-core Tegra 3 processor and 1GB of RAM. This tablet costs $199.99 for the 8GB model and $249.99 for the 16GB model. Keep in mind that there is no GSM or CDMA communication capability here, only Wi-Fi for everything.

Google announces $199 7-inch Nexus tablet

Google officially announced the Nexus 7 tablet at the Google I/O Developer Conference in San Francisco. As the name suggests, the Google Nexus 7 features a 7" IPS display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. The tablet is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chip with 1GB of RAM and 12 core ultra-low voltage nVidia GeForce GPU.

Despite of capable hardware, Google managed to keep the price of the Nexus 7 impressively low. The slate will come in 8GB and 16GB versions, which will be sold for $199 and $249 respectively. Asus is making Nexus 7 tablet for Google. Sadly, there isn’t a 3G model available, but obviously keeping the price as low as possible was key here. Measuring 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm the 7-incher weighs in at 340 grams which is respectful for its size.

The Google Nexus 7 comes with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity and Google Wallet preinstalled. That's also the reason there isn't a camera at the back, and only a 1.2MP front-facing snapper. However, it's capable of shooting 720p video, so it's not all bad.
