On the other hand, Asus, who in fact makes the Nexus 7 as well, planned on making another tablet that will not take ton loads of money to buy; a budget friendly tablet that will be high end in terms of specifications and convenient to buy; and so they came up with their MeMO Pad HD 7 a few days ago.

The display on both devices is pretty much identical, if you hold them side by side, you will barely notice any differences. Both are IPS panels. They are bright and vivid; you won’t be disappointed seeing the outcome from the display. Also, they both are the same resolution and sport the same amount of pixel density. The only difference is; the Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 comes for a much lower price.

About the Asus MeMO Pad HD 7, it has a quad core 1.2 GHz Mediatek chipset based on the Cortex A-7 architecture. Although it’s a quad core processor but not up to the mark like the Nexus 7, because of the inexpensive build architecture. But you get what you pay for, and it still manages a stellar performance for daily use. Unless you are a hardcore gamer, it won’t even be a problem.

The Nexus 7 2012 was launched with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and as a Nexus device it will be getting Android updates as soon as they are released. The MeMO Pad runs on Jelly Bean 4.2.1 which they said will receive further updates soon.

The storage capacity in the Nexus 7 is 16 GB and 32 GB. They have had a 8 GB model while initially launching the tablets which they later eliminated because it wasn’t sufficient and also, wasn’t getting much response from the consumers. There’s no memory expansion slot however, probably because Google likes cloud storages more than on board expandable options.
The Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 comes up with identical internal memory storage options but it has an optional microSD expansion port so you can conveniently increase the memory. Useful if you frequently switch your memory.
There’s no camera in the Nexus 7 2012 version while the MeMO Pad HD 7 has a not-so-awesome but pretty good camera. Won’t blow you away, you will just love it for occasional self-shots or capturing your class notes from a copy.
