Micromax releases Canvas Nitro 2 in India for 10,990rs

The successor to the Micromax Canvas Nitro A311, which went on sale back in December last year, has been launched in India. Dubbed Canvas Nitro 2, is available on e-commerce website Infibeam as well as leading retail stores across the country. Priced at INR 10,990 ($173), it will go head to head against Moto G (2nd gen), Asus Zenfone 2 and Xiaomi Mi 4i.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Canvas Nitro 2 flaunts a 5-inch HD IPS display with 720p resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by a 1.4GHz MediaTek octa-core processor paired with 2GB RAM. It offers 16GB internal memory, which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.



On the camera front, the Canvas Nitro 2 sports a 13-megapixel rear sensor with auto-focus and LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper. It packs a 2,400mAh battery that the company claims gives up to 9 hours of talktime and 250 hours of standby time. It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and connectivity options include dual-SIM, 3G support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Micromax launches Canvas XL phablet in India for Rs 13,990

Micromax launches two new Android phones in Indian market - the 6" phablet A119 Canvas XL and the peculiar 4.5" A94 Canvas MAd, which lets you earn money by watching ads. Priced at Rs 13,990 ($230), Canvas XL will be exclusively available on Homeshop18 website and TV channel starting today. The device will be delivered without any shipping charges.



Micromax A119 Canvas XL features a 6.0-inch qHD 960×540 TFT display and runs on a quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 processor. The rest of the specs include an 8MP rear and a 5MP front cameras, dual-SIM support with 3G, Wi-Fi, FM radio with recording, and a 2,450 mAh battery. The Canvas XL runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which will get some Micromax-specific apps. The device gets its juice from a 2,450 mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver 9.5 hours of talktime.

These days’ manufacturers seem to be breaking the 5-inch display barrier with great regularity. The phablet seems to be Micromax’s answer to upcoming Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and HP Slate 6 VoiceTab devices. But it remains to be seen how this phablet fares in the market already flooded with so many options.

Micromax Canvas 4 Goes Official in India at Rs 17,999

Following on from the Canvas HD launched earlier this year, Micromax unveiled its newest flagship in India today: the Canvas 4 (aka A210). It’s pretty similar to the HD, packing an identical 5-inch 720p IPS LCD display (under a Gorilla Glass panel), MediaTek MT6589 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM & 2,000mAh battery. Improvements over the HD that may justify its higher price include the 4′s 16GB of internal storage (expandable to 32GB), 13-megapixel main camera with Sony sensor & 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. An aluminum rim wraps the handset, which measures 8.99mm thick (0.35 inch) & tips the scales at 158 grams (5.6 ounces). With dual-SIM support & a radio capable of HSPA+ data speeds, the device runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean & touts software features like blow-to-unlock, look-away video pausing & pop-up window multitasking. Available in “Pristine White” & “Smoky Grey,” the Canvas 4 costs Rs 17,999 (around $295) with a free aluminum flip cover apparently worth Rs 2,999 (approximately $49) thrown in.

Also packing 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS and a 2000 mAh battery, the new smartphone lands on the market with Dual-SIM capabilities, paired with dual-standby functionality.
