Samsung launches extended warranty program in the US covers drops, spills and much more

If you are interested in any of Samsung’s Galaxy S & Note series smart devices in US then I have one very good news for you. Samsung has your back should your device run into any issues. Thanks to Samsung’s new Protection Plus Mobile Elite program that the company has announced. Under this program, the warranty of the phone will be extended to two years, and Samsung will offer fixes/replacements for damage from accidental drops, electrical and mechanical failures, and replace a device within two business days. Samsung is limiting the number of times a user can claim these benefits to three, which shouldn’t be a problem considering you will probably switch to a new phone if you’ve dropped it or damaged it so many times.

With Protection Plus Mobile Elite, you will be eligible for the following:

1. Covers accidental damage from handling – drops, spills and cracked screens
2. Covers electrical and mechanical failures
3. Advanced exchange – replacement within 2 business days or less
4. 24/7/364 customer support (Closed Christmas Day)
5. Up to three (3) claims allowed during coverage period

At the moment, the Protection Plus Mobile Elite warranty is available only for the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, and the Galaxy Note 4. Extended warranty isn't free, however, as Galaxy S series owners need to shell out $99, while customers with a Galaxy Note device have to pay $129 for the service. If you need a file a claim to get the device fixed, Samsung mentions that you'll have to shell out an additional service fee, which is $75 for Galaxy S devices and $95 for a Galaxy Note handset.

Android 4.4 KitKat is out for US Cellular Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3

US Cellular has started rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat to both the Galaxy S4 and the Note 3. You can either get the OTA update, or connect your device via USB and download the update manually using Samsung Kies. As always, you should be on the latest software build to be eligible to receive the update, so go to your device settings and ensure that you’re on the latest build. The baseband version for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat build for the Galaxy S4 is N900R4TYUCNAB and R970TYUFNAE for the Note 3. As always all users will not receive the update at the same time.



US Cellular mentions that making the Android 4.4.2 update includes a new user interface in addition to all the features that are introduced by Google. They include a new phone dialer, Hangouts SMS integration, wireless print integration, new gesture recognition keyboard that has better Emoji integration and a new voice recognition system that allows you to access Google Now by saying, “OK Google” when you’re in the home screen.

Samsung releases Olympic Games Edition of Galaxy Note 3

Samsung just made a known approach regarding Winter Olympic in Sochi, Russia. As Samsung is associated with the Olympic Games they don’t hesitate to release their special Olympic Games Edition Galaxy Note 3 device. The phone is available only in Netherlands at this moment with no word on further availability. Dutch carrier KPN is now offering the device for free on contract. It’s a regular 2 years long contract with €45-€65/month cost. The Galaxy Note 3 is also the official handset of the Winter Olympic Games which will be handed to athletes and employees during the Games.



The Note 3 Olympic Games Edition isn’t different from the handset’s regular version but it brings a special packaging along with an Olympic Games cover, tickets to skating sessions in Amsterdam Olympic Stadium or a jackpot to witness the Olympic Games live from Sochi.

Samsung launches exciting ‘Stay New’ upgrade and buyback plans in India

Samsung has come up with a new scheme called ‘Stay New’ in India, which offers consumers affordable ways to buy new Samsung phones and tablets and to upgrade from their older devices. Just after 3 months of buying. The idea is powered after the major success of ‘Buyback’ plans on smartphones implemented by manufacturers like Samsung and Apple to increase adoption of their devices considerably.

Under the plan, consumers will be able to buy new Samsung devices at low monthly installments through credit cards of various banks (HDFC, ICICI, Citi, and Standard Chartered).
