Download T-Mobile G2 official Android 2.3.4 SD card update

T-Mobile provides Android 2.3.4 update for HTC G2 phone from there stores by SD card. One of XDA users, atlp99 shared the update file with us and make it possible to update your phone manually. The good news for many of you is, if you already installed the leaked 2.3.3 update, you should be able to update to this official version with no problems.

Here are the installation instructions via T-Mobile support forums:

1. Download the 2.3.4 update for the G2 here.
2. Once downloaded, place it on the root of your SD card (not in any folders). DO NOT rename it. Its name should be “PC10IMG” with .zip being the extension.
3. This will completely wipe your phone (factory reset) so back up any data that is important to you. SMS, Contacts, etc. All apps will be deleted so back them up if you must.
4. Turn off your phone and boot into bootloader (press and hold the power button and volume down at the same time).
5. Once the bootloader is up you should see the “PC10IMG” being scanned.
6. Wait for the phone to finish scanning the file. If done correctly the phone will ask if you want to update.
7. Press volume up to confirm. The update process should begin after that.
8. Give it a few minutes and make sure you don’t have a low battery. Shutting the phone down or pulling out the battery during an update process can potentially brick it (trust me, people do this all the time).
9. Once the update has been successfully installed, the phone will ask to press the power button to reboot.
10. The phone will reboot and you have a freshly baked 2.3.4 Gingerbread update!

Make sure your phone is fully charged before you attempt to install it, the demo I installed it on would not install unless the battery was 100%.

Unofficial Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for T-Mobile G2 is out

T-Mobile G2 users are waiting for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware upgrade for a long time. But there is still nothing from HTC and T-Mobile about the gingerbread update to G2. But you can go to T-Mobile Developer forum to download unofficial Gingerbread ROM file for your T-Mobile G2 now.

It is almost sure that this will be the final and official Android 2.3 ROM for G2 by T-mobile but installing this at this stage could void your warranty.

After installing this Android 2.3 on your G2 you will not able to downgrade to Android 2.2 froyo anymore. But reports tell us everything will be working fine so far on T-Mobile G2. But Netflix app is not compatible with Android 2.3 yet. In the mean time T-Mobile is now offering G2 handset for free with 2 years contract.
