Verizon Galaxy Note 4 will start receiving Android 5.0 soon

Verizon hasn’t always had a very stellar track record when it comes to updating devices to the latest Android OS variant on devices. Samsung galaxy Note 4 is no different either. After having been received by both AT&T's and Sprint's respective versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 already, the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop is now on its way to Verizon's model.

The carrier nicknamed Big Red has published the update documentation on its website, which means the rollout of the new software is imminent (if it hasn't started already). After applying the update, you'll be on build LRX22C.N910VVRU1BOAF. The update will bring a more Material Design looking TouchWiz UI to your screen, lockscreen notifications and all the other little nuances of Lollipop that you have been eagerly waiting for. It will also bring along Verizon’s big push into the Voice over LTE, or VoLTE, with Advanced Calling 1.0. Users will also find new Slow Motion and Fast motion setting in the camera mode section, but Recording mode has been removed from the settings.



As usual with these things, keep in mind that the over-the-air rollout will be staged, so it might be a few days (or more) before your Note 4 tells you about the update. If you don't want to wait, you can try to manually check by going to Settings > About phone > Software updates.

Verizon releasing HTC Desire 612 with XLTE and BoomSound Audio

Verizon is preparing to bring 4G LTE aka XLTE with the addition of BoomSound in mid-level HTC Desire 612 on 9th of October. Its almost identical to AT&T HTC Desire 610 except the screen resolution is bumbped to 720p from qHD. The Desire 612 packs a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of built-in storage, microSD card support, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 1.3 MP front-facing snapper, dual front-facing stereo speakers, and a 2,040 mAh battery.



The phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat and has support for Verizon's XLTE network for fast data speeds. The Desire 612 will be free with a new two-year contract from the carrier. You'll also be able to get it using Verizon's Edge installment plan, if you qualify. And for a limited time, customers who activate or upgrade to a new smartphone on The MORE Everything Plans with at least 1 GB of data will get an extra 1 GB of bonus data per month for up to 24 months, as long as that smartphone remains active on The MORE Everything Plan.

Verizon offers Windows running Samsung Ativ SE with impressive specs

For the last couple of weeks we saw several photos of a Samsung made galaxy like Windows phone. Now the device is official on Verizon US network with the name Samsung Ativ SE. the device is now up on pre-order and will be delivered on April 12, a day after the Samsung Galaxy S5. And just like with the latter, Verizon is offering a buy one; get one free deal with the ATIV SE. If you get the ATIV SE with a contract and commit to a new two year deal you can get the Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8) or another ATIV SE with no upfront cost. The Windows Phone device will set users back $199.99 on a two year deal or $599.99 without a contract.

The Samsung Ativ SE has Windows Phone 8 inside with a 5-inch full-HD AMOLED display with pixel density of roughly 440ppi, Gorilla Corning Glass 3, a 13-megapixel camera, and an unspecified 2.3GHz quad-core processor (most likely the Snapdragon 800) with 2GB of RAM. It also has a 2,600mAh battery, 16GB of storage, and microSD card expansion. The Samsung Ativ SE measures 137x69.8x8.3 mm and weighs 135.7 grams. The phone is fully compatible with Verizon 4G LTE network.

Being a Samsung phone, the Ativ SE comes with a heap of "exclusive" features on top of Windows Phone. The most-notable of these are an infra-red blaster, which when paired with a remote control app allows you to control your TV, and "Ativ Beam" software for sharing files with other Samsung devices — including Android phones and tablets — via NFC. It comes with Microsoft Office Hub that enables users to work on Microsoft Word and Excel, edit files and sync from the cloud. Xbox Live also comes built-in with the device.

Verizon grabbing Cincinnati Bell for $210 million only!

It looks like another time has came to be eaten by another giant. And if you have to choose who is the giant between Verizon and Cincinnati Bell, then 99.9% people will vote for Verizon. And its now official that Verizon is buying the whole of Cincinnati Bell for $210 million. The deal should all be taken care of in the second part of this year.



So what do Cincinnati Bell customers need to do now that their accounts are being passed over to Verizon? Just sit tight. They're going to receive notices about any changes in plans or policies that will occur due to the transition. From now on Cincinnati Bell is going to focus their attention primarily on TV and internet services.

$100 Moto G coming to Verizon in no contract mode

Moto G aggressive marketing reaches a new height in New Year. Best Buy is selling the Motorola Moto G for Verizon with no contract for $99.99. The Los Angeles Times reported the lower priced CDMA variant of the Moto G, indicating that it will be sold through Best Buy retailers all over the United States. At this range the 4.5-inch HD screen device is one of the cheapest, high-quality smartphones to go on sale in the U.S. with no contract. Motorola had previously said the device would go on sale from U.S. carriers in early 2014.



Best Buy announced the arrival of the no-contract Verizon Moto G after an image of the gadget was posted Monday on Google+ by a Best Buy Mobile employee, who said in the comments of the image that the device would be available for about $100.

The Moto G went on sale from Motorola and Amazon last December for $179 and $199 for 8-gigabyte and 16-gigabyte versions, respectively. At this moment the offer is currently only available for the Verizon-only version of the Moto G, so anyone who resides outside of the US will be out of luck.

Verizon starts pre-ordering Samsung Galaxy S III from June 6th

Time for Android ICS on Motorola Xoom

How many times I wrote that Motorola Xoom owners are one of the luckiest Android buyers on the planet? Now I have to write it for one more times. It’s now official that Verizon will push Android ice Cream Sandwich firmware to its Motorola Xoom tablet users from June 4th. That will bring the tablet up to Android 4.0.4, and add features like speech-to-text functionality, a customizable launch bar, a new built-in photo editor and the ability to dismiss notifications with a swipe.

Users can also customize the new launch bar as well as create folders to access frequently used apps from the homepage. There is a new built-in photo editor installed inside firmware allowing customers to crop and rotate photos, remove red eyes, add effects and correct levels of images. There are also some bug fixes there as usual.

It will be a OTA update. So check you device for any new update notification. or you can check the update manually. But remember, not everyone will receive the new software on the first day and it could take a couple of days to reach everywhere in US.

Motorola RAZR and RAZR MAXX has identical ROM inside

Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX has the bigger battery from its older brothers but it turns out that are more similar to those inside. The Android source discovered that both the RAZR and RAZR MAXX are running on the same ROM. What this means is that in the future if you get a ROM update any of these devices, you can easily flash to another without any modification.

As usual with these things, there could be some risk, but as observed by the people of The Source for Android by flashing the MAXX RAZR with a ROM, things seem pretty simple in this case.

Verizon offers 32GB Motorola RAZR MAXX for $299

The RAZR MAXX Motorola DROID was one of the phones that have managed to impress everyone at CES this year is now available on Verizon. The phone has a giant 3300 mAh battery while being relatively thin - a hair in 9mm. If the battery life is what you are looking for, the RAZR MAXX is a champion - how 21 hours of talk time? For reference, the RAZR for Verizon Standard battery 1780 mAh packs from one to twelve hours of talk time.

An unbelievable software update is out for Verizon Galaxy Nexus

*Update: International GSM version also received the Android 4.0.2 update by now. Download size is 8.7MB.
Verizon released Samsung Galaxy Nexus barely 24 hour ago but I just found that they already released a software update for the ICS running droid within 2 hours of its official release. This update makes your phone firmware version to 4.0.2 from Android 4.0.1 and build number will be ICL53F.

This update will improve your 3G/4G and WiFi connections, tweak the lockscreen somehow, and improve visual effects while using the front camera. The update size is 10.7 MB and is made available to download as soon as you activate your new device. I am hoping that same update will soon arrive at the UK version of Samsung Galaxy Nexus. We saw lots of drama in the last few days regarding Samsung Galaxy Nexus release on Verizon US network, about its name and price. But everything is end by the official announcement by Verizon itself.
