At IFA 2011 Samsung shows us something different that regular smartphone. Samsung Galaxy Note is on top of the list. But don’t skip another new galaxy gadget. It is not a mobile phone, it’s an Android 2.3 running smart gadget- Galaxy Wi-Fi 3.6. It looks remarkably like a smart phone but won't let us make calls. It is a multimedia-centered droid with a 3.6″ 360X480 pixels HVGA TFT LCD display, single core 1 GHz OMAP processor, Gingerbread 2.3, 2 MP fixed-focus camera with LED flash and wide-range codec support for music and video playback.
The Wi-Fi 3.6 is Samsung's answer to the iPod touch. Like the iPod touch, you'll be able to use apps to call or video call using the front-facing camera people over Wi-Fi. This device performs all the functions of a smart phone - apps, Web browsing, email and media stuff. As an Android device you'll get full access to the hundreds of thousands of apps on the Android Market, as well as the many dedicated Samsung apps for social networking, gaming or media stuff. Apart from getting the full Android experience from the Galaxy Wi-Fi 3.6 you also get DivX video support, WMV support (up to 720p resolution), GPS receiver, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n support, a 1500 mAh battery and additional microSD card support up to 32 GB.
The Galaxy Wi-Fi 3.6 is aimed at those of us who want to get the all-you can eat smart experience but don’t want to cash out for an expensive smartphone at an expensive monthly contract. Prices start from £149 ($242) for the 8GB model and £169 ($275) for the 16GB version. Both Galaxy Wi-Fi 3.6′s will be offered in both black and white color versions. It'll be available from October in most shops.
