Huawei launches Honor 8 Pri in India for Rs 29,999

After three months of Huawei Honor 8 Pro's international launch, the company has finally unveiled the phone in India. It will be available exclusively on Amazon India for Rs 29,999 from July 13. There is one good news for Amazon Prime customers, the phone will be available to them starting July 10 at 6:00PM. Prime subscribers will get 15 percent cashback if they use HDFC Bank credit and debit cards. During the open sale, Amazon is enticing users with its Vodafone 45GB over five months offer, as well as no-cost EMI options. The Honor 8 Pro will be made available in Navy Blue and Midnight Black colour variants in India.

Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy S5 in OTA in India

LG G Flex 2 will be available in India from end of March for Rs 55,000

LG has launched their latest flagship smartphone - the LG G Flex2 - in India. The phone is priced at Rs. 55,000 ($878) and will be available later this month. LG is only launching the 32GB model in India. It will be available in Flamenco Red and Platinum Silver.

The LG G Flex 2 was introduced at CES earlier this year, and as the name suggests, its USP is the self-healing back. LG also announced the availability of the world’s first 5K television in India with the magic remote and running TV Web OS. The premium television will be priced Rs 59,99,900. The company has also updated its smart inverter range of refrigerators with Smart Connect which switches on inverter mode when there is a drop in voltage or a power cut.

Samsung lowers Galaxy E5 & E7 price in India

The Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 were made official in India last month, and Samsung has now dropped the price of both handsets in the country, only a month after they went up for sale. The Galaxy E5 was launched at Rs. 19,300 ($310) but now costs Rs. 17,900 ($288). Meanwhile, the Galaxy E7 price has gone from Rs. 23,000 ($370) to Rs. 20,900 ($336).

The Galaxy E5 and E7 are Samsung's new mid-range dual SIM devices. Although reasonably priced compared to Samsung's older phones, the pricing was still on the higher side compared to the stiff competition from the Chinese vendors in an increasingly competitive market.



The Galaxy E5 comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, an 8 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera, and a 2,400 mAh battery. The Galaxy E7 has a larger display (5.5-inch), 2GB of RAM, a 13 MP rear camera, and a 2,950 mAh battery. Both devices run Android 4.4 KitKat and come with dual SIM slots, though using two SIM cards means foregoing expandable storage as one slot also doubles up as a microSD slot.

Earlier the Galaxy S4 also saw its price drop heavily in India, though that seems more like a move made in order to clear stocks of the device before the Galaxy S6 arrives in the market.

Samsung launches Galaxy A3 & A5 in India along with E5 & E7

At a media event in Mumbai, Samsung announced a total of four new devices for Indian customers: The Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7. The metallic chassis Galaxy A3 and A5 are already available in a few countries, but this is the first time Samsung introduces the Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7.

All four phones have unibody design, with the A-series having aluminum unibody and the E-series having polycarbonate unibody. All phones also have dual SIM support and run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC. All four run on Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top. None of them have replaceable batteries and only the A5 supports LTE.



The Galaxy A3 has a 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with microSD card slot, 8 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera, dual SIM support, and 1,900mAh battery. The A5 has a bigger 5.0-inch HD display, 2GB RAM, 4G LTE, and 2,300mAh battery, with other specs being similar.

The Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 are priced at Rs. 20,500 ($324/€271) and Rs. 25,500 ($401/€338), respectively for Indian market.

The Galaxy E5 is similar to the Galaxy A3 in terms of hardware specs. There are a few differences, however. With a 5-inch 720p display, the device is noticeably larger, and there's dual-SIM connectivity on offer as well. To account for the larger display, the battery is a 2,400 mAh variant. The pricing is slightly lesser at Rs. 19,300 ($304), which may be due to the fact that the device isn't a metallic affair like the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5.

Like the Galaxy E5, the Galaxy E7 is similar in hardware to the Galaxy A5, and boasts a 5.5-inch 720p display along with a 2,950 mAh battery. In terms of software, all four devices come with Android 4.4 KitKat with a side serving of TouchWiz. One area of differentiation (other than the design) between the Galaxy A series and Galaxy E series is in terms of connectivity: the Galaxy A3 and A5 offer LTE connectivity, while the E5 and E7 only feature 3G connectivity.

Samsung launches Galaxy S5 Mini in India at Rs 26,499 through Flipkart

Samsung has launched the mini version of its flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone in India. The Galaxy S5 Mini is available from September 10 at a price of Rs. 26,499 ($435) exclusively only on Flipkart. The smartphone will be available in four trendy colours – charcoal Black, shimmery White, electric Blue and copper Gold. This is not the first time Flipkart scores exclusivity on a high-profile device. Back in February, the retailer did the same exercise with Motorola’s budget-friendly Moto G.

The Galaxy S5 Mini features a 4.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) Super AMOLED display. It is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz clubbed with 1.5GB of RAM. The Galaxy S5 on the other hand is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.



The device is water and dust resistance. Samsung has addressed the increasing demands of customers for extended battery life by using Samsung’s low-power, Super AMOLED display technology that requires very little power, but still keeps images bright and sharp at HD resolution.
It runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box and packs 16GB of inbuilt storage which is further expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. The Galaxy S5 mini sports an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and there is a 2.1-megapixel front camera also on board.

The Galaxy S5 Mini packs a 2100mAh battery and measures 131.1x64.8x9.1mm, while weighs 120 grams. Motorola unveils $120 Moto E in India

Motorola was teasing Moto E for the last couple of months with hinting very cheap price. And they have unwrapped the covers of Moto E today in India. It will be priced 6,999 rupees in India, that’s equivalent to $117. The phone will be also goes to sale in UK, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and Canada from today. The phone is built around a 4.3” scratch resistant display with Gorilla Glass 3 layer on top. It is of qHD resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 256 ppi. Under the hood of the Moto E operates a 1.2GHz dual-core processor that runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The company promises timely updates to future versions of Android, which is nice to hear for a phone of this budget nature.



Moto E has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, of which just 2.21GB is available. Thankfully, it is expandable with up to 32GB microSD card. Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 review: Advantages and Disadvantages

Among thousands of Samsung Galaxy series devices, we have a hard time to remember the details of so many phones except S and Note devices. Because every week there is some show off from Samsung. If you are considering the local market around the word then I can say that every day is a new day for Samsung press guys. One good thing this is Samsung never forgets to release entry level smartphones. But I am astonished to see that Samsung only changes the Android version, processor and video recording capability of the device. So it’s a minor upgrade regarding the first phone. But the great news is the price is a little bit higher from the original one. Over the last month I also recommended few people to buy this phone because of its cost saving habit. The device supports Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Assamese, Marathi and Gujarati language to make it desirable for Indian and Bangladeshi customers. But how good is this device? Let’s find out.

Micromax launches Canvas XL phablet in India for Rs 13,990

Micromax launches two new Android phones in Indian market - the 6" phablet A119 Canvas XL and the peculiar 4.5" A94 Canvas MAd, which lets you earn money by watching ads. Priced at Rs 13,990 ($230), Canvas XL will be exclusively available on Homeshop18 website and TV channel starting today. The device will be delivered without any shipping charges.



Micromax A119 Canvas XL features a 6.0-inch qHD 960×540 TFT display and runs on a quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 processor. Apple relaunching 8GB iPhone 4 in India to boost sales

The news and the title say everything for Apple. Things are not going too well in India for Apple. So they decide to take a not so Apple like decision to re-release the three and half year old iPhone 4 in India, specifically the 8GB model, according to The Economic Times. According to the source, the iPhone 4 8GB will be priced in India at around INR 15,000 ($244) through buy back schemes and EMI options. The model launched three years ago has been succeeded by the 4S, 5, 5c and 5s, the last of which starts at Rs 53,500.

The move comes as a result to boost sales in the Indian market, which Apple has been losing to cheaper rivals running Android and Windows Phone 8. India is the world’s second largest mobile market where Android is the number one smartphone OS for quite a long time for time. What is alarming now for Apple is they are losing ground to Windows powered Nokia Lumia too quickly. Earlier Microsoft report said that WP OS is now number 2 OS in India if we take Q4 sales only in our calculation.



The iPhone 4 was a popular model for Apple because of its relatively lower price compared to the newer iPhones in India. Apple and the iPhone in particular are aspirational brands in India and as such are on everyone's wish list but the high price of the unlocked models means most people either go for the older cheaper models or some rival brand, of which there is no shortage. Samsung and Sony have a strong market in India along with China made local brand like Micromax and Sony.

Apple's market share in the Indian smartphone market peaked to more than 4% in October-December 2012 and January-March 2013 before dwindling to 1.4% in October 2013, according to CMR data. Samsung's share, in contrast, rose to 42% from 33% in the same period.

With the iPhone 4 being discontinued last year after the launch of the iPhone 5c and the 5s, Apple lost one of its key sellers in the Indian market, along with its customers as well. With the re-launch of the iPhone 4, Apple is trying to gain back some of these customers. The phone is expected to go on sale as early as next week. But I wonder how Apple manages to stock iPhone 4 for India as it is almost out of market for over one year! Is it means Apple has too many iPhone 4 unsold models at their warehouse to dump?

Nokia has launched two new Lumia phones in India. The first one is the Lumia 525 which has a budget friendly price tag with it. XOLO unveils Q3000 with 5.7” display and Rs 21000 price tag

Xolo, an Indian mobile phone manufacturer decides to sign of 2013 in style by launching a new model. Samsung launches exciting ‘Stay New’ upgrade and buyback plans in India

Samsung has come up with a new scheme called ‘Stay New’ in India, which offers consumers affordable ways to buy new Samsung phones and tablets and to upgrade from their older devices. Just after 3 months of buying. The idea is powered after the major success of ‘Buyback’ plans on smartphones implemented by manufacturers like Samsung and Apple to increase adoption of their devices considerably.

Under the plan, consumers will be able to buy new Samsung devices at low monthly installments through credit cards of various banks (HDFC, ICICI, Citi, and Standard Chartered). For those wishing to upgrade to a new device, Samsung will allow them to sell their current device within three to six months of its purchase, after deducting the price of the latter. Xolo has officially unveiled the mid-range Q2000 5.5 inch phablet with a 720p screen. The device runs Android 4.2 Jelly Beans on a 1.2 GHz MediaTek quad-core processor with 1 GB of RAM. There is a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash in the back. The camera app features scene detection and tuning, HDR, face recognition, vertical and horizontal panorama. There's 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card slot.
